Let me ask y'all something, if you were far away from the east coast and went to a NY Deli what particular items would you expect to find there? Hot and cold items.

    I can think of 3:

    Pastromi on rye
    Ruben sandwich
    Bagels and Lox

Geography aside, the first two should be piled pretty high and the last comes with tomatoes and onions on it...

To Armilite's rhetoric question...I think there are parts of NYC that are close enough to pizz on the coast! (With a old bladder.) [:)]

It must be that Evelyn Whitecross Sped Redding course you took; read it 2-3 times, changing the meaning of word groupings each time. Then consider the inflections introduced by locality, employment, sarcasm and double entendre.
    It's the internubs, after all.
Pretty sure he forgot to mention that there are "New York deli's" in every town over 75,000 population.

    BikerBob nailed it!

I'd like to add - kosher corned beef, cole slaw and Russian dressing on an onion roll. Oh, with a kosher dill pickle and a Dr Browns Cream Soda

Well we've got 564,00 people here and 1.4 million in the greater metro area and there's no frickin NY deli here. Got a NYC pizza here but no deli and I'd be willing to bet there isn't one in the entire state.

The New Yorker Delicatessen in Roanoke VA is like that....OMG their Pastrami on Rye is so good, and corned beef... their sandwiches have a huge pile of meat and their prices are ridiculously low.

We have the Route 58 NY deli here in Va Beach. They get their meats from the Carnegie Deli in NY City.

A "mile high" corned beef on rye sandwich will set you back almost $20 but it's HUGE and easily feeds two or three people.
