Received this email ... great idea but will never make it. [:(]

Congressional Reform Act of 2017

1. No Tenure/No Pension. A Congressperson collects a salary while in office and receives no pay when they're out of office.

2. Congress (past, present, & future) participates in Social Security. All funds in the Congressional retirement fund move to the Social Security system immediately. All future funds flow into the Social Security system, and Congress participates with the American people. It may not be used for any other purpose.

3. Congress can purchase their own retirement plan, just as all Americans do.

4. Congress will no longer vote themselves a pay raise. Congressional pay will change the same as CPI or 2%..

5. Congress loses their current health care system and participates in the same health care system as the American people.

6. Congress must equally abide by all laws they impose on the American people.

7. All contracts with past and present Congressmen/women are void effective immediately. The American people did not make the contracts. Congress made all these contracts for themselves. Serving in Congress is an honor, not a career. The Founding Fathers envisioned citizen legislators, so ours should serve their term(s), then go home and get a job.

If each person contacts a minimum of twenty people, then it will only take three days for most people in the U.S. to receive the message.

Let's drain the swamp!
"This country, with its institutions, belongs to the people who inhabit it. Whenever they shall grow weary of the existing government, they can exercise their constitutional right of amending it, or exercise their revolutionary right to overthrow it." Abraham Lincoln

Does anyone see ANY way that his could be accomplished? Just trying to get it on a ballot would include every court, local, state, federal, and supreme. And, how long do you think the people who author it would live? Lots of folk who did a lot less have died or disappeared.

Uh, if you're going to write the new rules, you have to know the current ones.

Since 2016, Members of Congress must select their health plan from the ACA Health Exchange, just like everyone else. (But, they get a new 80% subsidy, at our expense.)

    Nailed it!

If we had term limits, we would never be in the situation we are in.
