I just picked up a 1911 barrel that looks military but is marked with S%W on one side of the lug and M P on the other.
DID/does S&w make 1911 45acp barrels for the US military ?

Thanks

Yes they did.

Most recent M1911 barrels will be parkerized, & have the FSN (Federal Stock No.) stamped on them.

I remember seeing S&W 1911 barrels advertised by Gil Hebard for $6.
Of course that was about 45 years ago.
When I finally saw one, I was disappointed that it was a plain old Army replacement part, not a S&W blue jewel.
