Anyone help me on dom of a Hawes Western Marshall revolver serial number is either 15318/3 or 1531813 the second to last number looks more like a / than the number 1 it is tilted and if it is a 1 it is different than the 1 at the start of serial number or the 4th number. Any help is always appreciated

cut and pasted "If it was made in Germany by Sauer and Sohns look on the left side of the gun on either the barrel near the frame or front left side of the frame. It will be two digits." Use a good hand lens. Others say not on theirs.

Some say no such list exist.

You might ask them, they are still in biz. Germans and paperwork are correct.

What Charlie is saying, is correct. Up until the mid 70's. When the Germans went to a mandatory, 2 letter date code, at their proof houses. Instead of a plain 2 digit date.

If the revolver is marked Germany or Made in Germany? It might have a 2 capital letter date code?
