New Forums Login Instructions - Please Read

Post by GB Marketing » Fri Feb 15, 2019 10:00 am

Greetings and welcome to the new and improved GunBroker.com Forums! We have switched to a different forums software and this has opened up new features. Previous posts have been migrated over.

Users who have not had a forums account before:
In order to be eligible for a forums account, you must have an account on GunBroker.com. ***You must *** sign up for the forums using the SAME email address as the one you used on the auction side. If you do not, the registration request will be purged when the approval process runs.

If you have an existing account, you should log in using your same username.
You will need to Reset your password:
  • Login with your existing username, and the temporary password that was given to you in the email. (Do not use your old GunBroker forums password.)
  • Go to the User Control Panel > Profile Tab > Edit Account Settings.
  • Enter your new password in the “New Password” field.
  • Enter your temporary password that was emailed to you in the “Existing Password” field.
If you did not receive the temporary password, it is possible your email address was not current i the forums database. If this happens, contact support at [email protected] with your forums username and we will reissue you a password once we verify your eligibility.

Updates
We made some fixes to the backend on Friday March 1.

We changed the settings on the server end to help with the logout timing issue, and need you to please do the following :
  • Close all browser windows, then quit the browser
  • Reopen the browser, and then navigate back to the forums
Thank you, and please report back if you are still getting logged out within minutes of logging in.

Thanks again for being part of this community.
~ The GunBroker.com Team

These instructions worked for me!
Some will die in hot pursuit
And fiery auto crashes
Some will die in hot pursuit
While sifting through my ashes
Some will fall in love with life
And drink it from a fountain
That is pouring like an avalanche
Coming down the mountain

Doesn't work to reset password on Google Chrome running Windows 7. Plus you have to continually login over and over and over. The only password it will accept is the one emailed to me. I have tried multiple times to reset password.

I have not tried Mozilla Firefox yet.

It didn't work as said. I had to re-register using a new user name, and password.

I now have the user name "Leather Man", but I would much rather use the user name "Trinity Scrimshaw" that I have used for years.

I also use Firefox, but I was having the same problem as above. I had to register under another name to access the site.

Pretty painless !! Thanks GB guys.

Oh did have one hicup, If your puter is set up to remember passwords, you have to tell it to update, or it may go back to your old password.

letter to "[email protected]

"reset password" link leads to sign in page, used "forgot password" and never received the "email sent"

this is actually the third time sending to "[email protected]", first time got the auto-mail saying there is no support for forums, and nothing the second time

hoping for some feedback

Keith Drumheller, A.K.A. oldemagics

finally did the re-register for now

How about fixing the read post mechanism. I go away and come back with the posts I had read being shown as unread posts. Nuisance trying to read only new posts.

I have to continuously log in. Checking the "Remember Me" box will work for one page, then I have to log in again when I go to another page. Disappointing.

Today is the first day I didn't have to log in.
"Remember Me" worked.

A question about logging in.....

When I get to the log in page, if I point the curser at name box, 2 names come up below it:

"babun"
"[email protected] {my email}

I always use Babun.
Can I remove the second choice of email address or does it even matter??

HAD TO LOG BACK IN TO POST THIS.

That sounds like it is the browser trying to fill in the form using the auto-fill or AutoComplete feature.
That second choice should not matter, if you choose to keep your Autofill setting on in your browser for use in other sites.

No log outs for 2 days!!!

Seems to be working great.
:D :D

Thanks for all the hard work.

Does log me off if I shut down over night, very okay with that. I think every web site should log off users if no activity for a set amount of hours.
