Woke up this morning to chirping in the incubator. One chick has hatched and another has pipped. I was home so I could shut off the turning apparatus and remove the plastic ring that keeps the eggs in place. The hatched chick needed the room to finish hatching.
Yesterday was day 18 so they are right on schedule.
I had decided to leave yesterday afternoon about 4 pm when the wind blew a tree limb down about six feet from me. Scared the snot out of me. At first I thought a hog was about to get me.

Very cool
Will they be ready for Thanksgiving? I reckon they'll be smaller than game hens.
Loved raising chickens when we had the ranch. One pair of Bantys raised a brood every year. Momma hid her nest until they hatched and Waa Laa she would lead them all out proud as can be. We had a pair of pea fowl too, and they hatched a clutch every year. Those little stinkers could fly like a quail!
