Discussion pick up from @Stonebuster newb introduction.

We (wife and I), have a couple modern Rugers that have served us well, and really like. We also have a S&W pre model number .357 Combat Magnum from I believe 1950's. It was wife's grandpa's then her dad's now ours. Still have original box for it too. Was bought at the George F Cake co., Berkeley California.

Never had a Dan Wesson, and regret not buying a 'pistol pack' back in the late 70's.

So whatda you got stonebuster?

I wish it had ben a colt python of course,

Found more info on the .357

Found an old auction of a like gun that had been lettered by Roy Jinks of S&W. In the letter for gun that sold they stated it was a first year (Nov. 1955) production of 5,000 guns and used serial number block K260000 to K265000.

Our gun is serial number K261*** . Matching serial numbers on barrel, cylinder, and frame butt. The gun retailed for $95.

Very excited to find this additional info.

I love my Dan Wesson. Bought it new in '76. It was my "lunch box" gun driving log truck until I retired in '09. I still have it listed on my CCW. One time Walt Kelly and I scared the dickens out of a coyote 12 times, he had a Ruger .357 and every time we shot, 'ol Wiley changed directions! Walt is gone now…..Another time I put a cow out of her misery, she had a broken hip and was pulling herself across a field. There were a few times that gun gave me comfort driving those old mountain roads alone and miles from nowhere.

My favorite is a colt police positive special in 32-20. It's just fun to shoot.

My first centerfire revolver was a S&W 66 (no dash) 4". I had to sell it several years later when family medical bills had to be covered. My friend still has it. I have offered him what it is worth now which is 5x what I sold it for. So far he will not let go.

    I am still a big fan of J and K frame S&W's.

Still enjoying a Kimber K6S I bought a while back. Seriously considering buying a progressive reloading station to keep it fed.

    Love my ol' revolvers.........

One of my first, is this S&W 586....…that I set up for double-action (PPC style) shooting.

The early 1980's were fun times..........😉

First revolver I ever owned was a H&R 32 cal. I had saved up money mowing lawns and had dad buy it for me when I was 14 years old, I think I payed $10 for it. The first real revolver that I owned that had merit was a S&W model 19 in 1972. I found out you can cause a revolver to jam with that gun. Trying to see how fast I could push a bullet out of it caused the primer to expand to the point it pushed back against the frame so much it jammed, I guess this is how we learn. lol.
I have a small collection of Colt officer models, and a couple of S&W along with a Ruger Black hawk Bisley in 41 magnum. They are fun to shoot.
