How many you got? We have a newer one in stainless. Good shooter, and like you the grandkids really enjoy it.

Several plus The the past
As my budget was almost nothing and a used model 60 was always in my reach of no $$ hobby funds, i even owned a couple of the papoose models
They have a reputation thats not deserved . They were Inexpensive way back when, but went bang as long as you did your part Just keep it clean it did all a 22 lr could be ask
I would not hesitate to buy one if it came up at the right time and prices
I have one, it's one of the most accurate, fun to shoot .22s I've ever owned ….. or shot for that matter.
Make real sure it is empty and you can see the red whatchamacallit in the action before you put it away.
I have seen the price spike on those model 60s. I bought many used ones in the past for 20-25 bucks.Around here they are selling for 10 times that.
The Marlin 60 was the first real gun I ever shot. Only BBs before that. The “crack” of the .22 was the most beautiful sound my little ears had ever heard. 22 LR will forever be my favorite round, and the Model 60 my favorite version.
I only have one at present. It is the Glenfield version with the squirrel and oak leaves on the stock. Didn’t get that one until I was 22 (about 25 years ago). Bought from a pawn shop in VA Beach, VA for $30, in like new condition. I paired it with a 4x Bushnell Sportview scope that I bought at a yard sale when I was 10 (for a quarter). Together, the pair is one of my very favorite rifles, and is the Grim Reaper as far as squirrels are concerned. Deadly accurate, and has never jammed even once.
She ain’t fancy, but I love her!!!
Yes siree
I have a stainless with a gray laminate stock. It looks nice. I put a 4x12 Nikon cheapo on it. I haven't benched it yet so I don't know how well it shoots. It's true it needs a cleaning more often than others. I paid $250 for it and can't explain why. I like it but I already have a Rem 597. I tend to shoot it more often than the Marlin.
Love this one.
I lost count of the 60s that came into the pawn shop because they "jammed and wouldn't shoot any more". Without exception, their owners had "cleaned" them by flooding them with WD-40.
Also without exception, a real cleaning with brake cleaner brought them back to sludge-free reliability.
Bonus tip: with either a 60 or a 10-22, a light spray of Corrosion X in the action and allowed to completely dry is almost miraculous. Powder fouling doesn't stick and falls out as a grey powder on its own or with a burst of compressed air. Just stay away from WD-40!
I have my dads old Glenfeild 60 he bought back in the mid 70s. that old gun still looks like new even tho you could not put all the squrirrels and racoons he killed with it in a train car. that old gun was with him every waking moment. then as i got older I got the hankern for one of my own so I bought a ss one. my dad thought I was silly for wanting a ss one .lol
I have the 60DLX anniversary model and my father has the Glenfield model from the 70s. Shot a lot rounds through his in the 80s. He has that which I hope to get along with the S/W K22 he has that was my grandfather's.
I have a Marlin model 99 which the model 60 is built after. A really fine shooter. Don
I have one of the Glenfield versions I leave over at the farm for when I come through traveling light. My BIL managed to lose the inner part of the magazine, but it's still a fine shooter as a single shot. I just tilt the barrel up, drop a cartridge down the tube, and work the action.
Y'all have some very cool versions. T
There's gotta be a part out there available, have you looked for one?
There are multiple variations, and I haven't put out the effort to determine the correct one. Besides, I figure it's less attractive to be stolen without a magazine - and certain relatives don't know how to get it to shoot. Works easier as a single shot than most single shots.
Lol, ok. Can't argue with that.
I too have a stainless. Great fun to shoot.
I have one in stainless that my nephew gave me but I have never shot it. Years ago I had a Glenfield that was a good shooter.
.
Hate to say it with the Love Fest going on. But…
We get soooo many of these come in the shop with problems. Mostly lack of cleaning. But lots of worn and broken parts too. Broken Buffers, Ejector block, lifters. And folks trying to fix them selves having no clue how to reassemble the complex assembly.
Stocks are an issue too weak at the wrist.
We buy these thing, just for parts.
If folks would only buy a Ruger 10-22……….
Here it goes.
Got 10-22's also
No 10-22's Joe.......
My oldest 22 is my grandfather's Win Model 61.......with the octagonal barrel, that my uncle Jerry Don called "the hex barrel 22". Then there's my sons favorite.......a Win M63.
The M61......
Oh wow!!! Love it. ^^^^
10-22s aren't nearly as accurate as a model 60.
I always wanted a marlin model 60 and this thread is about to make me go to the auction side and look for one. It is getting close to Christmas anyway
