They found some trees in France that could be used that are growing in the forest however modern steel or perhaps carbon Fiber would be better and installing a sprinkler system in the roof attic would be wise if they use wood again. One of the most unique conceptions about Notre Dame is The Flying Buttress holding up the load of the building and allowed windows (light) to shine in for special effects with stain glass. Color in vision is a powerful effect on a mind's eye and with Music is well very enlightening. Audio and optics made the television one of the most important inventions of the 20th century. Even Better than puppets shows in the city squares in France. https://link.springer.com/article/10.1007/s13164-009-0004-5

One of the first, and most famous, cathedrals to incorporate the use of flying buttresses was the Notre Dame Cathedral in Paris, France. Its construction began in 1163 and the cathedral was finally completed around the year 1345. Many different architects and ideals went into the construction of Notre Dame. Flying buttresses were incorporated into the architecture for the primary use of balancing the pressure produced by such vaulted spaces. Another very important reason flying buttresses were used in the Notre Dame Cathedral was to allow adequate sunlight into the building (Temko 127). With such high walls and lack of windows the cathedral proved to be quite dark. Architects then realized that with the addition of more flying buttresses, they could place large stained glass windows along the walls of the cathedral to allow in more light. The incorporation of these large windows would further weaken the stability of the walls; however the strength of the flying buttresses solved such issues.

sort of. the flying buttress thing came first before the need for windows. it was a new invention of the Gothic style, which appeared in the 1100's and was short-lived except for the use of flying buttresses.

what they do is allow those tall stone walls to be thinner, a bonus is it's easier to have windows. without them the walls must be thicker and they had regular buttresses for support, those big blocky things at the foot of a typical castle wall.

I hope the French can pull it off. If that happened in this country, by the time inspections were made, permits paid, local officials and unions paid off and the EPA and OHSA getting their share of the pot and all the whining liberals heard, that alone would cost a billion dollars. It would wind up getting a bulldozer ran thru it and the asphalt and concrete for the new Chinamart would already be cured.

    Jose.

More likely that was what would happen in France/Europe, if you have not been paying attention.

I thought it was Germany to be the first to do that! Oh wait you cannot defame The prophet, Muhammad. The E.U. courts are splitting hairs just like they will with red flag laws here soon.

The Austrian courts found that people can make offensive attacks on religion, but should avoid making statements that undermine the rights of others or cause major offense to a religious group without contributing to a serious debate of public interest. Her statements were not found to contribute to a serious debate since they were not ?facts? but ?derogatory value judgments? without a sufficient evidence base.

The courts involved themselves in a rather bizarre attempt to assess whether there was enough evidence to determine the historicity of the claims??
