Texas pastor fatally beaten with electric guitar in church attack

The congregation at a Fort Worth-area church is reeling after a bizarre attack on Monday that left their longtime minister fatally wounded. Police say a 33-year-old man identified as Derrick Birdow drove his car into the Greater Sweethome Missionary Baptist Church and went on a rampage inside, breaking a janitor's jaw before beating the Rev. Danny Kirk Sr. to death with an electric guitar. The Dallas Morning news reports Birdow was still attacking Kirk when the police arrived; he was hit with a Taser and taken in a squad car. Birdow was later found dead inside the car. Over 100 people later met at the church to mourn the loss of Kirk. "He was my shepherd," church member Pamela Thomas said

About as much sense as most things in today's news. [}:)]

Probably one of those hi-cap, assault guitars, that have no "sporting" purpose.

It's being willing. I found out early that most men, regardless of cause or need, aren't willing. They blink an eye or draw a breath before they pull the trigger. I won't. ~ J.B. Books

I predict it wont much of a wave across the country since it was violence against a Christian.

Now if it had been someone from the middle east....

I would certainly hope not, considering the suspect was later found dead in the squad car.

The responding officers used a TASER on Birdow, handcuffed him and put him in a patrol car. A short time later, they found Birdow had died.

Another TASER death? No one is coming to Birdow's defense?

Just guessing, he had probably taken an overdose prior to the attack, or it was an accidental overdose. I really dont think it was the taser?

Not enough information, there could have been a undiagnosed heart condition or not released condition involved, a news statement isnt enough

Agreed. Birdow probably died of a drug overdose or excited delerium.

But, right here on the Gunbroker forums, experts have declared that this person or that died as a result of exposure to a TASER. The difference is, that the other people who died didn't appear to be as "guilty" as Mr. Birdow, and so engendered a degree of sympathy.

The simple fact is, the last thing to happen to a person is not necessarily the cause of his death. If it were, then eating a good meal and having a good night's rest would be the two leading causes of death in this country!
