another CHL holder screwup

A business called about a pistol found lying on the TP dispenser in their restroom. Long story short, it turned out to have been left behind by a legal carrier. Happens more often than you'd think - and more often than it should.

Care to state your own SOP for dealing with a carry gun when using a public restroom?

Pull the whole works off and either slip it in my pocket or my boottop.

I hang it on the hook, that way I have my eye on it. I try to always check before I leave to make sure I have it. I could see where someone would leave their gun. Happens in our business as well. When I find someones gun where its not supposed to be, I take it apart and put it on their desk. Sometimes they can't get it back together!

I prefer Tuco's style in "The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly". One end of a piece of heavy twine tied through the trigger guard and the other tied around my neck.

If you can't feel the music; it's only pink noise!

I hang it on the hook, that way I have my eye on it.I know of more than one incident over the years where people have hung their unholstered pistol there by it's trigger guard and accidentally discharged a round.

I know of one incident where a uniformed cop hung his gunbelt there and lost it to someone who simply reached over the top, grabbed it and ran out the door. I've heard of more than one who laid his entire belt on the floor at his feet and lost it to theft.

When sitting there with my pants around my ankles I lay it in the crotch of the pants. It's safe from theft and impossible to forget.

This might seem like an offbeat subject, but if it wasn't addressed in either your concealed carry or law enforcement firearms classes you didn't receive proper training. It's humorous, but also something anyone who routinely carries a gun needs to put some serious thought into.

+1 on the "drop trou, drop skivies, squat, place piece in crotch of skivies" method. You don't drop it, weapon is still under your control, and you dang sure will not forget it![8D]

Use a shoulder holster. Remember the old TV show "Barney Miller?" The old guy Fish was the only one in the squad who wore a shoulder holster, and he was always having to go to the bathroom.
