Some say reserve auctions don't work. Some say they won't look at them. I use them part of the time, but not every time.

I am pretty pleased with this one so far.

I don't like *hidden* reserves... if there is a minimum you want, start it at that ...

They are excluded from my searches so I never see them.

    Start it at your minimum.

Decent looking series 70. I've seen ones in that condition go for 900 at gun shows.

So you miss out. On purpose.[:(]

When was the last time you saw a NEW IN BOX Winchester Model 61, made in 1961? Never assembled, never fired.

Well, if you exclude reserves, you didn't see one today, either. The high-end collectible stuff often has reserves to keep from giving it away.

    That is correct.
    On purpose.
    Never have and never will.

Now tell me why in the world you would not start it at your minimum.
Makes no sense to me or others.

The price it is going for is what it is worth, I wish I had the cash.

I too do not bid on reserve auctions, they just cost the seller more in fees (good for GB!) and aggravate me to no end.

Start at the LOWEST you will take and let er'rip for 14 days.

reserves dont bother me if i'm searching for something specific. If i'm just doing a search for guns with bids under 200 just to see whats out there and hope i can snipe some gem of a gun for a steal of a price i exclude reserve auctions. If i do bid on them i just bid the highest i would pay for the gun. If it meets the reserve good, if not i'm not out anything but a couple seconds to bid on it.

You need like 5 more pics. I think this auction won for most pictures.[:D][:D] Nice gun, wish I could buy it but the wife would kill me. PS when is your election coming up? I will be pulling for you Dave

I also screen out reserve auctions....if I miss out on a gun, that's fine....by setting one, you are missing out on a significant customer base, and that's fine too.

    Good luck with your auction

I have not had any problems selling guns with reserve auctions. I've pretty well with the ones I've sold.

Bottom line, if you're selling something that the market wants then it's going to sell.

That's a nice piece, wish I weren't having to put in a new heating system in a couple weeks!!

As a buyer, reserves don't bother me, and I don't see why they should bother anyone else. Usually, when I put in key words for what I am seeking, I will end up with only one or two pages of auctions, and I weed them out from there. Reserve or no, I will usually watch it and see where it goes. On the last day of the auction, if the bidding hasn't gone too high, I will bid, one time, the amount I am willing to pay, and let Autobid do its thing. If it meets reserve, fine. If not, that's fine too, and I look further.

I have a feeling that the fellers that "don't have time for reserve auctions" (as if it takes a lot of time to bid once!) are the same ones who insist on using credit cards and getting the item shipped yesterday, with tracking information.

    Patience is a virtue.

To those of you who at least looked at my nice .45, THANKS!!!

Here is the NIB 50 year old Winchester.
