Sir, its been a long time since we have talked (as if you could remember me amongst the thousands of posters). Anyway, I saw in your background info that you were a Sig man. I was wondering if you saw my post in the "Ask The Experts" section about Sigs versus Rugers. I have a Ruger, the one I wrote about last year that kept jamming, right out of the box, Ruger changed the extractor and now it works fine. But, its a little larger than I wanted (concealment) and the accuracy is not quite what I had hoped. A friend let me shoot his Sig 228 and I liked it. An acquaintance, a gun broker, offered to order a Sig 229 (I just love the .40 caliber) stainless for about $690 out the door title, taxes, and all that.

What do you think of the Sig 229's accuracy? Should it be able to stack up against its competition whether Smith, Beretta, and the rest?
Any other comments would be appreciated.

I like the 229. I carry one every day. It is more accurate than I am. I can ring the gong silhouette 100% of the time at 50 yards.

It is a little large for concealment in light clothing, but there is a 239, even smaller. I find I need a jacket to conceal the 229 well.

I have not priced them lately, but $690 sounds about right if it has night sights. Maybe I am off a buck or two. I think we paid less than $600 a piece for ours with night sights, but that was a 50 gun agency purchase.

Another option to consider if you have smallish hands or short fingers is the short trigger.
