What's the procedure and how hard is it to obtain a FFL?

Billy boy Clinton and the gang made it a pain to have one, it drove a lot of the small timers out. You have to have a place of business with posted hours and bars on the windows, if this is your house then you'll have bars on your windows and posted hours on the front door. ATF agents can drop in unannounced and go through your business and files whenever they please. I was going to get one until I saw the bunch of crap you had to do.

Provided you are going into it somewhat full time, not hard. Contact your local ATF outfit and tell them you want to apply for a FFL. They will send you a packet to read up on and comply with.

Depending on if you live in the city or county, rightous or socialist state creates the hoops you must jump through.

    You don't need a storefront.

    You don't need barred windows.

You do need a separate entrance for the business if it is to be inside a residence.

You cannot have a licensed premises in your home if there are any zoning or deed restrictions regarding retail business where you live.

I am in an unincorporated area with no restrictions. I had my premises in my formerly formal dining room off the front door, up until I bought a separate building.

Had I stayed where I was when Slick Willy went after us small dealers, I would have had to give up my license.
