Does anyone else just cringe when you are watching a movie, and some guy tells another guy to toss his gun down during a gun fight. I was watching " Dirty Harry " today and he was cought off guard buy another gun man and was told to toss his gun down on the pavement.[}:)] You could here it hit the pavement[B)]. I just think about how much guns cost and everything. I think I would ask politely if cought in that situation if I could just lay it down[:D]

No worries....it's just "sound effects". "No actual firearms were injured during the filming of this motion picture"![:D][:p][8D][:o)]

That one always makes me sick just to think about it.

Oh, ya....about as sick as occasional pictures we get locally as the TPD ships another load of confiscated firearms to the steel smelter...I hate to even see a Jennings consigned to that fate.

Just making us all safer, you understand....

You know you're a gun person if there aren't any shows or movies that you can watch without picking apart the "gun angle" of the show.

That gun wasn't made at the time frame of this movie...
He just shot eight times without reloading that 6 shooter....
That rifle sounded like a shotgun....
That homeless guy is holding up a gas station with a $25,000.00 gun...

Its really hard to watch anything without doing this.

I've always felt that way. I wonder if ever in such a situation where I've legally drawn a weapon and then the police show up. They have no idea who I am, I'm sure I would be told to put down my weapon. Wonder if we can get some LEO's to chime in on what they have experienced with law-abiding-gun-lovers asking if they can politely lay their weapon down on a gun rug?[;)][:D]

heh, the little screw-ups actually don't bother me THAT much, its the gross innacuracies that make me cringe. Even Arnold Schwarzenegger can't control a Desert Eagle with one hand, unless it's firing blanks [:D]

One of my favorites was on the old Hogans Heros series. Occasionally SGT. Shultz would be carrying a rifle out in the compound. If you look closely it was often an American 30-40 Krag instead of a Mauser. Drives me nuts..........[:D]

I saw John Wayne do that in a movie once. The bad guy told him to drop his gun. Mister Wayne said "This is my favorite Greener shotgun, you mind if I lay it down?" [:D]

How about when the guy unloads six shell casings from his revolver
and reloads then uses his wrist to flip the cylinder back into the
revolver instead of manually putting it back into position.

One of the cringers for me is the "self loading revolvers" that just keep on shooting passed their cylinder capacity[}:)] This would entail the autos too!

I have always cringed when guns were kicked across the room. Thought about the pitting and scratching, makes you sick.

My little Kel-Tec carry pistol would probably fare pretty well. Not much metal to damage. But a python, oh my God! Thats like chauk dragging on a chaukboard.

How about when the guns get thrown in the river or out the car window-[:(]

Agreed, why not just spray paint or air brush the Mona Lisa and be done with it.

The sound of a gun skidding across pavement is like fingernails on a chalkboard.

FWIW IF I had no choice but to drop a gun you can bet that I would drop the mag (and stomp on it if I felt it was warranted)or dump the cylinder to make sure I wasn't giving the BG more firepowder.

Personally, I would rather remove the gun from the person myself, if it is not in his hand. That way, I am in control, and I know it isn't going to go off accidentally.

If he has it in hand, I will tell him to lay it down and back away from it. "Drop the gun" is a bad command, IMHO. Some guns, especially the cheap charlies a lot of gangbangers carry, will fire if dropped.
