CONTROVERSY AFTER PEOPLE MAG PICTURES CHELSEA CLINTON IN 'AROUSED' STATE

Editors at TIMEWARNER's PEOPLE magazine found themselves in controversy on Thursday -- after the weekly published a photograph showing former first daughter Chelsea Clinton in an apparent "aroused" state.

Clinton is shown "erect" as she is embraced by her companion Ian Klaus at last week's US OPEN tennis tournament; her face: showing "bedroom pleasures."

Publishing the provocative photograph of the media-shy Clinton is the latest attempt by new PEOPLE editor Martha Nelson to heat up the magazine. The snap is featured near the front of the book in the September 23 edition [Pg.24].

But the controversial shot of Clinton pulled mixed reviews -- even from within the magazine!

"I work here, I found it in very poor taste," a PEOPLE staffer told the DRUDGE REPORT from New York. "Why don't we just run a photograph of his hands down her pants?"

Editors defend the publication, noting Clinton's display was in a public setting.

    CONTOVERSY??!! Why does the main media find it fair game to splatter the front pages of their rags with their slighting the Bush kids. Yet Bill and Hills' river rat gets caught in a picture while in an obviously too cold room is a big controversy? How many saw the Gore prodigy was nabbed by MP's for a DWI last week?

    Actually, it is a shame that people chosse to run down kids of celebs.... just because they didn't agree with their parents politics...

    They should leave the Bush's kids and the Clintons kids alone!!!

    On the one hand she should expect people to print photos like this but that still doesn't excuse those who do it. If she were some unknown noone would notice.

    So who cares? You can see that in any supermarket or park.

    It's just that it's Chelsea, who by accident of birth became famous and photographable.

    Now, what sort of accident put William Jefferson Blythe, the son of an alcoholic tramp, into the White House?

    Judge Dread is probably the only one with a logical answer for that one.
