This question might be better addressed to the "Ask The Experts" board

I read your question. But deferred as I have no experince in this area. However I would guess the WD-40, while a good product for a number of uses, doesn't seem to be a good choice here. Ideally you need to tumble the cases in a media like rice, to remove the corrosion and smooth up the brass. Of course the WD will maybe stop the corrosion, but will do nothing to remove the debris or improve the condition of the case.

Bad idea. WD-40 is a penetrating oil and spraying it on amm o could easily de-nature the primers so it go bang no more. Tumble them in a treated medium.

NO WD-40!!!!!!!!!!!!! IF IT DOES NOT FUNCTION IN YOUR 308, A LITTLE RUBBING WITH 4/0000 STEEL WOOL NOTHING ELES.

Suggest you also apply some patience to the situation. You first posted your question SIX HOURS before you posted this follow-up. Not everyone on these forums sits at their systems 24/7 waiting for the opportunity to provide free answers to questions.

Put some Hoppe's #9 on a cloth, not a great amount either, and rub any white corrosion from the casings. DO NOT tumble live ammunition. WD-40 is best used on farm machinery and nothing in the firearms field.

Shootist is absolutly correct. I knew a police office that found he was carrying 6 duds in his Mod 19 because he sprayed his gun every night and wiped it off, he never removed the rounds.
