cant shoot it in indoor ranges. not really a logical hunting platform. probably a legal disaster in a shots fired ccw situation( through and through into pedestrain(s)) type of thing.
i guess i just dont see the need for this particular firearm to exist. might have come in handy in north hollywood several years ago but thats all i can see

I was rolling my eyes pretty hard, but hey, I've never shot one.

The AP round that defeats Kevlar is not readily available to the civilian market. The round should destabilize pretty quickly on impact causing rather substantial injury. I'll probably be picking up one for Christmas but it ain't replacing my .45 anytime soon[:D]

This is b.s. Even the commercially available ammo will go through a Level III vest like butter.
Whoopee! We felt really special for a while.
We bought a bunch of the ammo, but are still waiting for the super whiz-bang plastic guns to shoot it out of.
When I told the commander of our TAC team that I could buy that super whiz bang ammo and a pistol to shoot it out of, his jaw fell on his chest and he looked like he got his feelings hurt.
I think the ammo AND the guns are, as my old man said, "about as useful as the teats on a boar hog."

Five-seveN TACTICAL
The Five-seveN Pistol is the companion weapon to the P90 sub-machine gun. The 5.7x28mm ammunition has the capability of penetrating body armor at extended ranges, yet has less felt recoil and is less prone to over-penetration. The Five-seveN Tactical is an easily concealable single action pistol with a 20-round magazine capacity. A maximum use has been made of composite materials in the frame and slide to result in an extremely light weight, 1.7 pound, design. The 5.7x28mm ammunition features a lead-free projectile to eliminate environmental concerns
The 5.7x28mm weapon system is comprised of three components: the 5.7x28mm ammunition, the P90 Sub-machine gun, and the Five-seveN handguns. The 5.7x28mm SS190 ammunition has been designed to bridge the gap between the 9mm ammunition and the 5.56 x 45mm. The 9mm FMJ round will not penetrate modern body armor and the 5.56mm (.223 Rem.) rifle ammunition creates over-penetration concerns in a close combat situation or urban warfare. The SS190 has unique design, utilizing two metal inserts. The tip of the ogive has a steel penetrator followed by an aluminum core that is heavier than the forward tip. This causes the bullet to tumble in soft body tissue after 2 inches of penetration. This design virtually eliminates the risk of over penetration. This also creates a large wound cavity and quick incapacitation. The SS190 will perforate 48 layers of Kevlar up to 200 meters when fired from the P90 and achieve the same result up to 50 meters with the Five-seveN handgun. The 5.7 ammunition has only 60% of the recoil impulse of a 9mm. The muzzle velocity of the SS190 is 2,346fps when fired from the P90 and 2,133fps with the Five-seveN. Tracer, Sub Sonic, Training and Blank ammunition available. Ammunition is supplied in the U.S. by Olin.
Both were shot from 25yrs, used the practice ammo.
The pistol grouped around 10", the P90 on semi would do 6" groups, on full auto with 20rds 2ft groupings.
The P90 at 50 yrds on semi with 20rds grouped around 14inches, on full auto with 20rds, group was 3-4ft with 14-15hits on the target.
Penetration with the pistol shooting pratice ammo into a 4x4 was around 3 inches.
Penetration on a 15lb watermelon,around 18"dia, was a small entry hole
the exit took out the other half of the mellon, shattered it, guess due to bullet tumble.
IHMO the ammo is way to expensive, accuracy fair to poor, also the projected sells of the guns are way down from what was expected.

suposed to penetrate just about any body armor on the market. great if your a criminal, but thats about it
They say the same things about SKS's, AR-15's and...well anything that isn't a bolt action or single shot shotgun. It's that kind of representation of firearms that are giving gunowners such a difficult time.
And it's also ironic that you say that because a lot of gang bangers and general crooks are buying up and wearing body armor these days.

Shoot both the 57pistol & P90, throw rocks at least you will hit something!

I'm thinking they should make these in the civilian version to be the standard 9mm para ... both the pistol and bullpup ... If they don't make it in an available caliber I may reconsider [:(]
... because when I buy a firearm, I'd like to be able to afford to shoot them, and its got to be at least fairly accurate!

... If you don't, you'll find any excuse.
? otherwise, you'll find an excuse.
