    When is GM going to make the Tahoe's more fuel efficient?
    I really like them, but, can't live with 14-17 mpg. I do about 40,000 miles a year and with that mileage I'd be pushing $8,000/yr just for gas.

    You always seem quick to someones aid,was hoping you could answer a question.By the way those are some sweet looking AR's you've got there!I've heard and read that on ar's like mineColt CAR 3 cr6724 Elite that guns with stainless barrels are best broken in with a fire/cleaning schedule.Like shoot 1,clean,shoot 2 rounds,clean,this up to 5,then do that 5 times,something like that up to around 50 rounds.Any thoughts?I've got maybe two more months till I can shoot it,I've got time.

    Thanks for replying in the SL8 thread at 'Ask the Experts'. I go to shoot (iron sights) an SL8 a few weeks back. It is an accurate gun (and loud). I am considering a purchase. Can you give me any information on what you scoped it with? HK product? Other? If other, did you mount to the rail?

    Just to satisfy my curiosity I went through the members list to see who and when the oldest recorded member was.

    You are with a 8/29/1999 date.

    So congrats to you Sir, for whatever it is worth.[:)] Can you apprise us youngsters what things were like when you were the only member on this forum? Who the heck did you talk to? What was it like? Imagine this forum with but one member.

    There were 2 other members with dates just 2 days later...Aglore and Captkirk3@dslextreme.com. What a triad.[:D] Ya'll could really whoop it up then.

    SXSMAN,The first 10 rounds I clean after each shot (through cleaning first of course), then every 2 shots for the next 10, 3 shots for the next 30 ... I figure I'm not in any hurry, and it cant hurt anything!Stay away from stainless brushes! They are at least as hard, if not harder than most of the barrels on the market and will scratch up the bore ... Kreiger (preimum barrel makers) advises not to use anything but nylon brushes and don't pass it or even a patch) through the crown ...

    SXS,I've never tried the 2-stage triggers, although I've seen them at gunshows. Nobody has ever gone to the trouble to set one up so you could "try it before you buy it". I have tried the JP trigger, but it was just light all the time and would "bump fire" if you weren't very aware of it in rapid fire events.A few years back (before N.M. triiggers were in mass production) a guy at a show in Wichita had a adjustable "set" trigger he had designed, there was an allen screw that went through the safety, and another in the trigger behind the disconnector, he had one set up and it was the sweetest AR trigger I had ever felt. It had a 4.5 pound pull without being set. Then to set the trigger, you put it on safe and pulled the trigger to take up the slack and you could here a "click", then flip the safety off and all it took after that was a 2 pound pull with "Zero" noticiable creep. He had one set pu on a lower with a rubber block for the hammer to hit (to prevent damage to the receiver) I fell in LOVE! and bought 2 set of them on the spot for a mear $60 each it included the hammer, trigger, disconnector, safety and anti-walk pins. You did have to be careful when setting it up though because it it wasn't adjusted correctly it would slam-fire until the mag was empty. This warning was in the directions as well as given when I bought the sets and said after it is set up start with only 2 rounds in the mag! ... Anyway I've never seen him since ... maybe he sold his idea to some company and lives on his own island somewhere!
