My father-in-law recently gave me an old single-shot 12ga. The thing has a barrel roughly a mile and a half long. All it says anywhere on the gun is "Long Tom", in flowing script on the barrel.Anybody know anything about this piece?

I have one in 16ga.Did a "ask the experts" on it sometime ago. The replies were.Made several different companies for a Chicago Hardware Wholesaler and distributed to hardware stores through out the midwest.Mine is a 36" barrel full choke and no marking other than "Long Tom". Value appears not to be much.

39.5 inches long.I have no intention of shooting it. Might put it over the mantle. The old dude's in great shape. The ol' lady's dad says he hunted with it into the late sixties and it's just been sitting ever since.
