With that many errors in spelling etc., it sounds like someone thats to young to have a drivers license, let alone a firearm.I'd second the NO motion

That's a straw purchase ain't it? Seriously, I don't know. Is this what a straw purchase is?

I believe a straw purchase is filling out the necessary paperwork and purchasing a firearm when the real buyer is actually someone else.

That sounds like a "no - brainer" to me.That's the kind I'd enjoy answering, cause its so easy.Ok ...Ok...I'd be polite though, after all, you really don't know the reason behind the off-color language and intent. (I'm not gonna list a WHOLE buncha things here, ya'all could do so too.)There's just no reason to be impolite when yer not sure, and thereby brand yourself unnessesairly. Don't burn a bridge.Bob

Yea, I send an email back stating I would only ship to a FFL holder. I was just wonderin' if any y'all ever had some idiot approach ya like this.I get ofgers in the shop on occassion; "hey man, sell me this without paper work and I'll give ya an extra 20 bucks." I tell 'em to hit the door.Thirty years as an FFL this month. Ain't gonna piss that away for a few dollars not counting the jail time. With my luck they'd put me in the cell with big bubba - and they don't call him big cause he's tall and they don't call him bubba cause he's friendly

Most of what I sell here are "assault rifles". I'm constantly getting emails from * who want to know if it will accept a retractable stock, can be converted to full auto, etc. etc.I also get a lot of the "no FFL" requests. They're awfully fun to answer! Have fun with the moron.

Doesn't matter if it is a sting or not, the only answer is NO! You have far too much at stake to risk it for such a silly reason.

Pelican, it does make you wonder doesn't it....

I used to get many requests from individuals from California for Hi-Cap magazines when I was selling off a large number of them last year.
They would try all sorts of different tales and woes on why they needed them. I was always real paranoid that someone was trying to set me up. I always sent them a thanks but no thanks reply.

Damn, just when I was a learning how to post good y'all gotta go and change everything up. Kinda like the dang grocery store, just when you know where everything is they rearrange the dang thing.

Now to worry folks. I done decided i wouldn't sell this clown anything FFL or not. I asked GB for a final value credit and they said I had to go thru this process of advising the potential buyer this that and the other. I told 'em I'd eat the loss cause I don't want to take a chance this fool could come up with an FFL anyway.

Yea Sandman, started April '72. Been a long hard pull. You always hear folks say "yea it was rough but I wouldn't change a thing". BS!!, I'd change a lot. Like that older actress said (I can't remember which one) when some interviewer asked her if she would like to be 18 again. She replied "Only if I could take my 50+ year old brain with me". Makes a lot of sense to me. Keep the shiny side up my friend.

I loved the answer to "send the $, I'll hold your purchase until your FFL returns". :) his response will be really- the check is in the mail and I wont........

He is probably the same guy that asks you to hold his wallet while he goes to the john!!!!!!

Pelican......I'd get his money and then send it to a local FFL in his area. Then tell him where he could pick up his purchase. The local FFL might be real surprised at HIS new weapon! Beach

    Beach,
Technically, ANYONE, including criminals, terrorists, or psychopaths can PURCHASE a firearm. However, you must meet the criteria to POSSESS it. Just because the buyer can't possess the firearm doesn't mean it automatically belongs to the ATF/FFL/Police. If the buyer is unable to possess the weapon he may sell it to whomever he chooses as long as he does so through his FFL(who maintains possession).

    I THINK that's right.

Elmo: He wanted to buy a Standard Arms SA-40 .40 cal pistol.

Think you might be a bit off on your statement Monkey, guess it depaneds on sematics.
The 4473 requires the buyer to state that he/she is the actual purchaser. A felon cannot be the actual purchaser. I run into this on rare occassion when someone pawns a firearms without knowing they will be unable to redeem it because they have a record. Lot's of folks seem to think "Oh that, gee that was 20 years ago that shouldn't count". They don't relize that a felony is like aids, it don't go away. What I do in that situatiion is to advise that someone else can redeem the gun but that they cannot give it to the person that is a felon (whatever). I also davise them that the firearm is not even supposed to be in the house where the felon is. I have a form that the person redeeming the gun has to read and sign and I give them a copy of it. It basically states that they have been advise by the firearms dealer that the dealer has reason to believe that so and so is prohibited from possessing or having control of a firearm and that if they give said firearm to so and so, their * is grass. I attach a copy to the 4473 they fill out. It is CYA.
