Burris Refurbs?

It's time for another scope. I have two Leupold Vari-X III's (3X9X50 & 4.5X14) which are decent. I have a Bushnell Elite 4000 (2.5X10) which I am very impressed with considering the cost. I think it's time to try a Burris. It will be installed on a Browning A-Bolt in .300WSM. I am looking at a Burris Fulfield II in 3X9X40 (#200161) which I can get for $182 (Not refurbished). My Question is "Why are there so may refurbished Burris scopes being offered for sale at certain dealers?" Is there that high a failure/return rate? I have never seen Leupold refurbs.Any opinions on this scope?~DC~

I can't answer the scope refurb question precisely, but let me say that I like to buy refurbed products whenever it represents a savings over new.Say it is a chain saw, or a VCR, or whatever. It probably failed and was sent back early in its life, so it has not been used to any great degree. When it was assembled prior to being sold new, it was put together by ASSEMBLERS, people who are trained to put a certain part or parts on the device. When it was sent back to the factory as defective, it went to a shop where a TECHNICIAN, more highly trained than an assembler, went through it, found the problem, and made it go like new.For the difference in price, having an item built and tested by a TECHNICIAN can be a better deal than the same item that was only ASSEMBLED.

I have bought a Burris refurb from Natchez before. About 4 years ago. I got a 3-9x Compact model. Aside from two nearly mocroscopic marks from rings (and they were covered by my rings when I mounted it), it was perfect. I tried "shooting the square" the first day I had it mounted. Absolute repeatability. 16 clicks left, 16 clicks down, 16 clicks right and 16 clicks up and I was back where I started. The scope is on a .30-06 that has been well used.I totally recommend the refurb. scopes based on my one experience.
