Personal Note to Mark Christian

Quote from Mark Christian: "Those long postings tend to leave me open to critical comments from a few folks here on GB who'd prefer that I shut up totally or just provide one sentence answers to all questions (impossible for me)."

Mark-- Please don't get discouraged although at times I am sure you wonder, "what's the use." I, for one, appreciate your clear, detailed explanations. Your experience is broad and up to date--your presence is a huge "plus" for this forum. Thanks for taking the time.

Rafter-S

Like I said once on the subject, "I'd rather have too much info. Let ME sift it out. There is always something pertaining to another, usually LARGER issue, anyway. Backround makes the foreground more clear."

I just don't understand how he remembers all that stuff.
I'm not sucking up to anyboby, but itIS pretty detailed stuff.

You don't need to write a book. You are a book. A huge tome of firearms history and general gun information aa well as first hand bibliographical accounts of the principals of the modern gun industry. Without access to your knowledge and advice I would have frittered away the one true historically significant piece in my collection. Ofcourse if you deny access to this information via this forum you are morally obligated to write a book or three to save us ignorants from our future folly.
PS You're not long winded ,you are detail oriented.

    Mark,
Keep doing what you are doing, you do it well. It impresses me how polite you are with the uninformed. I find that if the subject is on something in my interest, it can't get to lengthy. I hunt all over for information and if I can find an expert, I'll take all the knowledge I can get.

Now, about that diesel powered key board.[:p]

Mark, seems like everything I see you post is either from first hand knowledge or from credible sources, don't worry about what a few may like or dislike. I believe the majority appreciate what you do.

Mark's detailed answers have led me to dig deeper into some subjects that I might have overlooked. A current thread on cartridges has me studying my NRA Fact Book. A good thing.

Yep, I'd be lost without Josey's news and Mark's information. I think maybe they are brothers and dont know it.[;)] You know how those babys get stolen from the hospital sometimes, twins are born and the mother doesnt know it, that kind of thing.[:D]

As I said in your last post. If they don't like your responses they do not have to read them and can skip to the next one. Your information is detailed and that is far better than not detailed enough. Thanks.

I am weary of Mark's constant, frantic emails, begging me for information so he can reply to forum posts. I get no credit whatsoever, although plenty is promised with each whiny plea, along with a bag of Little Debbie cookies. Posters are unaware of the "cheat sheets" I create for him on a daily basis for a modest fee, broken down by weapon type, inventor name and legal issue. The man is really a Payless shoe salesman; I am the valiant vocals behind his Milli Vanilli persona.

I agree with the above posts. When Mark speaks, my ears perk up, I shut and liston! No bull, no fluff, just good solid information that I can count on. If I have a question I can't find out about on my own, Mark is my first thought. Thanks Mark, I appreciate all you do!

What alot of pople dont know is that some of the questions take more than one sentence to answer. Especialy when dealing with the BATF rules & regs.
I for sure have not read & re-read the yellow book (BATF Reg) in the past 2 years. One thing for sure is that, you have answered all of my questions to the T and correctly.
We cant thank you enough for your patience with us dummies.
    Thanks!

I second Rafter... I love your posts Mark, only rarely do you stray from gun facts to get into personal preferences, and even those are ok since you base them on your own experiences. I sent you an email a while back telling you this (basically).
Keep on postin' and I'll keep on reading them! [:)]

Mark, please keep up the great work. It allows un minions to remain fat, dumb and lazy. Which is really not a bad way to go through life. Much less stress.

Like the others have said, I will say it to Mark C is a wealth of knowledge, he is one of the few people that can make Calif. firearms laws clear to me. That alone is a feat in it's self.

Bob, I understand your venom. I feel your pain: Shattered myths, broken pedestals; Bert and Ernie revealed as puppets. Get over it. Think of Mark as Shepard Smith reading-- but not writing--the news. And, by all means, if you need something unusual in an opera pump, visit Mark at the Payless on Sepulveda in Van Nuys.

When Mark C. talks I listen. Can't pay him a higher compliment than that.

When guns were invented everything changed. For the first time in the history of the world a frail woman had a chance to sucessfully defend herself and home. My dream is that one of the anti-gun nuts will need a gun for defense and be unable to have one because of their own actions.

WOW! You guys are way too kind. There is so much information available for the asking here on Gun Broker that it just amazes me how generous folks here are with their time and knowledge. I also learn a lot here because we have experts in nearly every technical field and lots of life experience that no books can ever teach. I do my very best to provide an honest answer to every question I respond to and if my information helps someone stay out of trouble with the law, learn some firearms history, or make a more informed purchase of a firearm then I am happy to have helped out in some small way. Frankly, GB the ONLY place I've found where anyone is even slightly interested in the stuff I like to talk about! Sheepman, when I come up to visit you next month I will bring along the balance of the Little Debbie snacks I owe you for this years firearms Crib Notes. I do however feel that this is extortion because last year all I had to do was agree to purchase your remaining inventory of diesel powered typewriters, now I have to provide you with snack foods in addition.
