Well here it is the middle of August, and Fall is just around the corner. My favorite time of the year. The bow hunters at work are already buzzing about the up and coming season. We have an early youth pheasant hunt coming up in October, Bailey is almost one year old and I can't wait to see how she will perform.
The leaves will be turning color, the frost will be coming at night makin for good sleeping and snugglin! Can't wait to go belly up to an old Oak tree, and feel the warmth of the rising sun, as I wait for the sounds of those tree rats scampering thru the dry leaves. Ive seen lot's of big Blacks already this year.
Then before you know it we will be out chasing the elusive Long beard, trying to find a flock to bust up. The Local gun clubs will be having their annual turkey shoots, and youth field days. Soon the air will be ringing of the sounds of the deer rifles being zero'd in on paper in anticipation of the up and coming whitetail season. The new antler restrictions have cut down on buck kill last year so there are more bucks and bigger racks out there this year.
Ive got four youngins hunting this year, it's going to be fun! Allison can't wait to see if she can better the boys, Im bettin she does! Nothing like being out in the woods on a deer hunt and watching that first dusting of snow blow in and settle on the landscape! I can just see me now sitting against a big old tree trying to keep warm wait and hearing that old train whistle way off in the distance! Whats that coming it's a deer, a buck a big old knarly 8 pointer, wake up kid here he comes!
Ah yes, Fall, I love it, a trip to the cider mill for some fresh apple cider, and some of those pnut butter filles donuts, Indian corn, multi colored leaves, upcoming gun shows, the smell of gunpowder, watching Baileys little stubby tail wiggling with excitement as she sniffs out those birds! Seeing the excitement on the kids faces the night before deer season. Ah yes it just doesn't get any better than this Folks!!!
Get out and enjoy it, if you don't have a youngin to take, find someone who does and introduce him to the sport. Get em excited about something besides girls, and computer games! Can't you feel the excitement in 270 deerslayers post about spotting! Im here to tell ya old Paul is fired up and ready to go!

I'm with Chuck,,,I also love the fall season. The last few mornings, the temperature has been fairly cool during my walk. Just about time to put the shorts up and break out the sweats!! I know this will be a fun season for ya working with 'Bailey' also[:)].

Seems for most of us, the older we get the more fall impresses us as compared to spring.
carmeled apples apple pie turkey on the grill and cozy sweaters working without sweating like a pig and pressing leaves in books, books in the evening, birds and wild life comming up to the house and ..baked potatoes in my pocket in the morning, darker in the morning so I can sleep a little longer.....snuggle snuggle a little longer[:)][:)][:)][:)]

FALL!! What the heck happened to July?
What can you so in july besides fish?? Fall is definetly the best season, turkey hunting, duck hunting, youth doe, youth pheasant, small game season, first day of buck and a whole lot of steelhead fishing! I cant wait, hopefully I'll have my new rifle with a nice new scope on it so I can whale away at some deer!

There is plenty to do in July! I got a ton of miles on my hunting boots this summer as I get during the fall and winter. A couple hounds will keep you busy, every night I was home I was in the woods with the dog(s), I don't think I took more then 3 nights off all summer from chasing *. During the day we got 3D archery shoots to attend, groundhogs to blast, paper to shoot and best of all, mudholes to jump in with the pickup!
Politicians are like diapers, every so often you need to change them, for obvious reasons.

Black bear.
