On this day: 60 years ago, Taiwanese F-86 Sabres armed with needle-like, 9-foot-long missiles called the AIM-9 Sidewinder shot down 10 Chinese MiGs in a series of aerial engagements over the Taiwan Strait (September 22, 1958).
