the video about the guy going to the airport and greeting returning soldiers got me thinking [ usually a bad thing ] would it be wrong for a civilian to salute a soldier?

in reality, until theres a reasonable assumption that everyone is aware he's dead. maybe that takes a week, maybe a month, maybe a year. once you're confident that everybody listening to you speak about a dead guy is aware that he's dead, then you're just adding words that are no longer necessary.
Now it's just around 3 days - or until someone is dancing on his grave.
