What is the metal band in the stock just behind the bolt? Mine doesn't have that.
Well, it should! It's a two piece stock assembly. Here's another on GB, it has been reblued but you can see the band there also.

Nice gun, wish I had the dough.
So how do you get the numbers to show up so nicely in your photos?
Contrast is in the lighting. A tripod and quality camera also do wonders.

I use a Paintstik. Available in most art stores. Rub in on to fill the markings and wipe off the excess. I've been using the same one for 20 years. A welder gave it to me in the shipyard.
Will you be unloading any '98k mausers? Thanks, Joe
Joe, I only have two left to sell. One is the Portuguese contract and the other is a ce43 with a ZF41 on it. I also have a STANDARD MODELL I may put on, haven't decided.
What are the differences between a K-98 and a 98/40? (metal band noted)
What will the asking price be at a gunshow?
should be a nice shoot.

Let me put it this way, while they may be the same caliber, the only parts that will interchange that I can think of is sling, rod, and maybe sight cover. Different locking systems and the G98/40 was only made in Hungary. The number (98/40) was just a German accounting/supply ruse haphazardly applied like the G33/40, G29T, and FG42. Get ahold of Goetz's book, German Rifles and Machineguns and that will explain the differences between all German WWII weapons.
Wonder what he will want for the G 41 ? [:(]
No need to wonder. [:D]
For the "W", $2900
For the "M", $5500
Both are matching with the exception of the bolts.
