Home Security-----Feeling Safe??

Reflecting on the changes of the last 9 months, I find the following things designed to make me "safer."

1. The Burger King rejects at the Airport have been absorbed into the "government employee" pool. On a recent flight, I was searched four, (4) times and had to remove my shoes and have them searched, (hush puppies), even though my ID announced my Law Enforcement affiliation. I would have been searched a fifth, (5), time if they hadn't spotted an 80 year old Grandmother and turned their attention to her! Overkill? Naw, just making me feel safer!

2. They recently replaced the "Troops" with the M-16's with "new hires" for the Airport's Police force. That makes me safer because the risk of a "short burst" of automatic fire on a crowded concourse has now been replaced by a "rookie" with a Glock!

3. Pilots still must be disarmed and so must the passengers and this policy is being more rigidly enforced more than ever before to give any "hijacker" every additional advantage possible. The confiscation of Grandma's nail clippers really made me feel safer!

4. During the Winter Olympics in Salt Lake City, the daily presence of the "Black Helicopter Gun Ships" overhead really made me feel safe. Any one of those choppers probably could have brought down any building in Salt Lake. What else they could do for the folks on the streets below, I haven't been able to figure out......must have been something otherwise why were they there? For some reason, this didn't make me feel any safer.

5. I now am hearing the FBI was worried about Foreign Nationals being in Flight Schools around the country in July of last year. Seeing what I've seen and related a little of here, it doesn't surprise me at all that no one cared if these folks were learning to fly. It wasn't like they were "kicking tires" at the "Used Airliner Dealership!" What could they do without an airliner?

6. The newly implemented Alert System really makes me feel safe! Let's see now, Yellow means Caution.....No. Orange is the color for...Oppss, maybe its blue........Well, anyway, if I have a need to know the TV talking heads will probably tell me. This really makes me feel safe just to know this......!!! Wonder where I can find a copy of this chart again......somebody must have one.

7. Kalifornia is continuing to disarm its population and other states and localities are following their example. Wonder why this doesn't make me feel safe? Aren't the Criminals going to obey these stupid laws, too?

I think I will place myself on "High Alert" while I mull over all this government protection being afforded me. I wonder if another box of hollow points would make me feel safer? I think an extra magazine or two might help me also. Will let you know when I get back from the Gun Shop......Stay Alert!

I recently went to Canada to see some friends in Windsor. Upon my return I naturally stopped at the border crossing. Imagine my surprise when I wasnt even checked to see if I was actually who I said I was. No ID check, no where do you live, nothing!!!!! It was "How long have you been gone?" "Where did you go?!!!! And that is our security? I was questioned, my id examined, my car given a quick search by the Canadian authorities, but my own fellow americans when I came back in????? NOTHING, and they are protecting us? GOD help us.

I've said it before and I'll say it again - I've been in airports three times since 9-11 and each time, without doing more than sitting in a chair waiting for arrivals, I could spot a way to avoid / defeat the security in place. All this 'enhanced security' is nothing more than a sop to the intellectually challenged. A fence of toilet tissue would do as much to stop a determined terrorist. The rent-a-cops sure didn't like it when I laughed in their faces and told them they were wasting their clown acts on me. Damn, but I'm an Iconoclast!
