Has anyone had any experience with this so-called "better than lead" shot? I was reading an article in G&A awhle back on the partnership between Remington and Hevi-Shot and was wondering if anyone has used or plans to use the Remington Hevi-Shot for turkey or duck.

Who here all uses it? I don't sell much of it but I see there is alot of being closed out for pretty cheap so have been ordering more in since I expanded the ammo section in the store and just have to wonder why it costs 4x as much as a similar type steel. Some people swear by it but I see the "It is mine and is what I use therefore it is the best" alot so I like to hear multiple opinions one a subject.

Is Hevi-shot really that much better or is it more of a gimickey round like the Duplex rounds used to be. I guess if they work and people are happy with their purchase it should be enough but I just wanted some opinions on it. I think it may be phased out in the next few years based on the fact that almost all of it is about 50% at one of my distributors leads me to believe it isn't a big seller and other big distributors might follow suit.

I HAVE USE THIS "STUFF" ON DUCKS AND CANADAS FOR ONE YEAR AND ON SNOW GEESE TWO YEARS. GREAT "STUFF" WITH THIS SHOT YOU CAN FIND OUT HOW GOOD YOU CAN REALLY SHOOT. WE HAVE A SHOOTER WHO HUNTS WITH WITH US WITH KILLS OVER 70 YARDS. I CAN'T SHOOT THAT WELL BUT THE BIRDS AT 40 YARDS ARE STONE DEAD. GIVE IT A TRY. EVEN AT THE CURRENT PRICE IT IS WORTH THE PRICE.

beach--Do I note sarcasm in your voice? I have no experience with Hevi-Shot and am wondering if there is something that you know that I havn't learned yet. If there is a reason for your sarcasm, please share. I'd rather not risk a hunt by walking in with something that is not tried and true.

idsman...no sarcasm at all....I had almost given up duck hunting because those light weight POS steel shot loads had completely thrown my timing off. Now like magic there is a cure. Sounds pretty straight forward to me. Beach

I HAVE BEEN CHASING THESE QUACKERS FOR OVER 50 YEARS. HAVE TRIED ANY AND EVERY THING TO COME DOWN THE ROAD TO GET BACK TO THE OLD DAYS. GIVE THIS STUFF A TRY. IT PUTS THE FUN BACK IND TO WATERFOWL HUNTING. YOU PICK UP THE BIRDS IN THE DECOYS RATHER THAT CHASE THE CRIPS DOWN THE RIVER. GOOD LUCK AND LET US KNOW WHO YOU DO. JOHN

I WOULD RATHER BE DUCK HUNTING.

beach--didn't intend any offense. I just wanted to make sure you weren't holding back on me. I generally learn a thing or two (or ten) every week here and am itching for people who have experience with regards to Hevi-Shot. Now, can one handload their own shells with this stuff?

Only thing I don't like about these new shells is the bloody cost. I have used the tungsten blends two years in limited situations. I almost think that for me it is a self-fulfilling prophecy - I so hate the thought of 'wasting' a shot, I usually only fire when steel would do the job anyway . . . .

idsman - if anyone would have the ingredients, including instructions on how, to roll your own shotshells with this or other magic bullet items, you will find it here. Really good outfit for shotshell reloading; I've purchased from them many times over the years.
