Seems like a year ago,or so..some of you computer guys gave some tips on cleaning up hard drives to recover disk space..I`ve deleted a bunch of games and programs I don`t use and the darn thing is still full..How can I really clean out all this old stuff ??? I`d rather spend my megar funds on gun stuff than computer stuff..Thanks, Gunny6

First, get rid of any temporary files such as temporary Internet files. Then, do a search for items with the same file extension (such as jpg, bmp, mp3, etc.). You can do this by going to Start | Find | Files and Folders and typing *.jpg, etc. This will list all the items that match your criteria. I've seen some computers with several gigabytes of *.mpg or *.asf files that, when deleted, free up LOTS of space. Just be sure you know what you're deleting. Normally, MP3, JPG, BMP, ASF and MPG files are non-critical files.

You can also tackle the drive space problem from another angle. Go to Best Buy and pick up a new 20, 40, 60 or even 80 Gigabyte hard drive (that you can install as a "slave drive") very inexpensively.

    Good luck!

First thing, do a full sys backup 'just in case' you kill something you will miss or is critical to the operation! Mr. Murphy will be watching carefully and will beat on you badly if you do not.

After you've deleted all the trash, do a disk defrag - either the MacroCrap app or something good from Norton or another software company.
