Okay, someone is trying to convince me that he has fired a Derringer chambered for .45-70 and .410. I told him that he was thinking about the Derringer chambered for .45 Colt and .410. He was ADAMANT that he had seen one in .45-70. Am I on crack or is he?

I dunno about that, I've seen some big derringers, at least in caliber, I wouldnt be at all surprised, but can neither confirm nor deny its existence. I would say that to say it doesnt exist would be an unwise assumption.

Seems like someone was making a single shot 45-70
derringer a few years ago. Don't think I would
    want to shoot it though.

American Derringer still makes a 45/70 Derringer called the Alaskan Defender. The top barrel is 45/70 and the bottom barrel is .410.You should be able to tell if he fired it by his cast..:)

According to their web site, the Alaskan is .45LC/.410 not .45-70

Take shootist3006 link to American Derringer and look at the price list. The M-4 Alaskan is offered in 45/70-.45/.410 and 45/70-.45colt only and .45/.410, the Model 4 is offered in 45/70 in both barrels, and the Model 1 is 45/70 single shot

Man, I've shot the .45 LC / .410 derringer; I don't even want to think about shooting one in .45-70. You'd have to have a grip to crush steel or the brains of a turtle to do that.
