    My mom thought Friday the 13th was lucky, because she seemed to always find money on that day. Yesterday was her birthday. She left us 22 years ago. Happy Birthday Mom.

    about a week away from the usual wheat harvest and this morn is 53* almost dead calm with a heavy dew coating everything ?????????...after really dry fall winter and spring we now have received unusually heavy rains....wonder how many weather taxes AL would need to fix it......

    Heck I was born on Friday the 13th, and never found it to be a bad day. In fact that was 56 years ago today...[:D]

    Seeing how the weather is now getting warmer around here (53 degrees), I think I'll take the Harley out for a cruise. Been chomping at the bit to ride it, but the weather hasn't allowed it. Frost last night & snow a few days ago.

    Wish me luck...[^]

    ATF,

    Never gave Friday 13th any thought until September 13, 1969. That was a Friday, and the day I was wounded in Vietnam. Every since have been alittle gun-shy on any Friday the thirteenth.

    I use to have a job that paid twice a month, and when the 13th fell on Fri., it was the earliest I could get paid during the month. I really looked forward to it then.

    I'm not a superstitious type, so didn't think of yesterday being Friday the 13th, but I did have an interesting day.
    Got up early to find water in the hall, it turned out to be a valve that had been leaking a good while by the looks of the mess. Turned the water to the valve off, went on with my preparations for a fishing trip, turned on the TV to get a weather report..The circuit breaker kicked off. Took half an hour to determine I have a bad breaker, just left it off and went fishing. Half way to the lake, right rear tire on my truck went flat. Tried to lower the spare(it's on a wench), the tube that my wrench goes through to lower it was bent, couldn't get to it. Called my fishing buddy on the cell phone..Thankfully he was a few miles ahead of me pulling another boat. He came back and his spare fit my truck. A bit of good luck finally. We went on to the lake, same place we've been catching huge catfish for months. Stayed all day, caught one fish about 12 inches long.
    After needing rain for weeks, last night it finally came. Not much, but the wind was hard, a sycamore tree broke in half, top half is in my yard waiting to be sawed up and disposed of.

    I decided to take today off and have a few beers. Tomorrow, have to find a new water valve, a new circuit breaker, a new tire. I think the tree will wait a few days. Maybe until the next Friday the 13th.

    I never have given the day much recognition in the past. My brother practically goes into hybernation when it rolls around. He's had nothing but bad luck on it. Yesterday was really good to me. A buddy at work is getting married at the end of the month. A bunch of us from work, and some people he knows from elsewhere, went out last night. Our first stop was the river boat. I've never been there before, but after last night I want to go back again. The first slot machine I put a dollar in paid me five. I put those five back in and lost them. I almost walked away, but decided to put another five in and hit for $3700 on the third of those. Needless to say, the night was starting to look very good. After we left there we went to a place called Big Als'. For those of you who don't know, it's a strip club. I bought the first couple rounds and got my buddy a few dances. It was a pretty long night, and when I got home this morning at quarter after five, my wife was waiting up for me. She wasn't happy about what time it was, but when I gave her the money for the last three payments on her car she didn't seem to mind as much. All in all it was a pretty good day.

    Without going into details, there was no question in my mind that this last Friday the 13th will be long remembered in my household & the memories will not be at all pleasant. Coincidence, no doubt, but man, I'd rather that particular day was erased from the calendar of my life.
