A news article reference a history professor who was told to remove a weapon he was displaying from the civil war era. Since he is tenured he is firing back at officials (pun intended) by pointing out the ridiculous rules they have in place. Since I am only a starting member (not even a newbie) and have been here since 1999 I will be working on my postings. I can only aspire to join S-Pig's echelon someday.

(One more post on my way to promotion. This is stupid, but I can't help myself, I want that next star. This is like sending characters on "unpinning" expeditions in D&D, if anyone knows what I'm tallking about.)

One of my buddies from back in the day is playing the new computer game, Dungeon Siege. He bought it just for laughs, but he says it's well done for what it is. Not a lot of big strategy, lots of hacking and fireballs. It's very rare that we can get together to play a game face-to-face, what with wives and kids and all, but we usually have an email game going on.
Too bad I'm nowhere near Ft. Leonard Wood: stationed here in Scumington,DC.
Suffer Not This King
Howso' great their clamour, whatso'er their claim, Suffer not the old King under any name! He shall mark our goings, question whence we came, Set his guards about us, as in Freedom's name.
I emailed to tell him his policy is wrong. We should flood him......
BTW - I signed my name and put RWB after (Refinery Welder Boilermaker)

Mr. XXXXX: I would encourage you to check the facts of this case before you form a judgment. This professor has been charged by colleagues as being threatening and intimidating to them! Under the circumstances, and with a history of this sort of thing from this particular professor, we as an institution cannot ignore such a complaint.
The University policy against workplace violence mentions guns only in the context of threatening behavior. For that reason he was visited by a University police officer in response to a complaint by a colleague. The professor removed the gun himself, then proceeded to spread this story as if he is totally innocent. Whether his behavior indeed is, or has been, threatening is still under investigation, but the gun stays off the wall until that is determined.
Unfortunately, these are times in our society when one must take such complaints seriously, particularly when there is a pattern of disrespect and incivility.
