Im new to this site it seems to be a pretty good resource.

My question is once the AWB sunsets will it be alright to make the cosmetic changes to the post-ban rifles? Also how do you think this sunset will effect gun prices in general?

A little about me, I got out of the Army(101st Airborne) a month ago. I served in Iraq(12 months) and Afghanistan(6 months).

Im lookin to start adding to the collection, and wondering if now may not be the best time.

Hello, all. My first time on this forum. In regards to another post, "What do you do for a living?", I work for a large pharmaceutical/chemical company. Live in beautiful South Carolina "Lowcountry". Originally from Michigan. Enjoy hunting, shooting, guns in general, fishing, shrimping, etc.,along with going on imaginary month-long hunting expeditions out West or to Africa. In the market for a 375 H&H magnum and would like to hear opinions, advice, preferences, stories, anecdotes, assorted grumblings,or what have you, as to what brand, favorite loads, etc.

Welcome to "The Board", the place to be. Ida guessed you to be from Texas (BigT) but then I've been wrong before (once) Divorced it ! No opinions on the 375, but I bet it would be a good varmint gun loaded with 200gr boolets at 3800 fps or so. (just grabbed some numbers there experts, don't need to be corrected - thanks)

Thanks for the welcome. Ya'll know how to make a fella feel downright at home. Have tried some of the other forums but they're kinda slow. This is BY FAR the best I've seen. Taz,I wish I was from Texas. That's my adopted home state! I love it there. I 've been hunting down there on a friends ranch for the past six years. Got a new Remington 700 VLS 22-250 with a Leupold Vari-XIII 6.5-20X50mm this year and would like to find a place to reach out and touch a dog or two. Any recommendations?

Welcome fellow 7mm fan. This is a fine place to spend time. Lots of guys here with all kinds of experience. Any angle is covered, (legalities, caliber choices, problem fixes, custom work etc). No better place to stay informed and educated.

A great rifle with a junk scope,....is junk.

bigt7mm - Welcome to one of the most interesting boards on the net. You are aware, of course, that there is a custom observed here by all new members and I trust you wish to continue in the observance of that custom. Simply stated, you must choose one of the following two positions and agree to hold it forevermore:

    A) The 5.56MM is the greatest rifle cartridge ever developed and will take down any critter, two-legged or four, that now walks the planet.

    OR

    B) The 5.56 MM is the sorriest excuse for a mouse gun cartridge ever seen and Eugen Stoner should be burned in effigy as often as effigies can be produced.

    Again, welcome.

Hmmmmm. How long do I have to contemplate that? Let's see. Well having never actually shot a 5.56 (my military career was stopped before it ever got started-while on delayed entry was struck by a drunk driver which peeled the hide off of one leg and broke or crushed several other structural members) and being of the Elmer Keith school of thought I would have to answer "B". Hence my first post re:375 H&H magnum."No substitute for horespower".Hey 7mm nut, sorry about the name infringement. Think we could share? Thanks to everyone else for your responses!

Who needs a 375 H&H as long as there is a 338 caliber cartridge available. Okay I prefer tha 285 Speer Grand Slam for the 375. Have a couple of different loads that will put that bullet into 5/8" groups at 100 yards from my Rem. 700 Safari Grade. Which one you want, the fastest or slowest? And welcome aboard.
