What a wonderful documentation of some of his thoughts and feeling at that time, it certainly is a treasured family heirloom.

I treasure these, they will always be kept safe. Glad you all enjoyed.
There are some others that i didnt post, such as pinup girl art. He also has some photos from the American liberation of Dachau, which are very unsuitable for this forum.

    Thanks for sharing, Jeepgod.

BTW, go ahead and post the pinup girls...if they're not to risque.
Nunn won't mine, being that they're part of history.

I thought it was an A-28 Hudson, but im not positive. Not all the art was done by my grandfather, he passed the book to other POW's. My grandfather was a Radio Operator in a B-17G.

Ill post one of the pinups (hope nobody gets mad), also, heres a few others look at....keep in mind at various POW camps not all prisoners were Americans, hence some of the British drawings.....grandpa passed the book around, and they added various things....the first picture is of a cover of the book (he traded a pack of cigarettes for it from a British POW)

A very rich piece of history. Be sure to treasure that log and if I may suggest, write down in a separate journal everything that you, your parents, grandmother and any siblings remember about him, his life, expressions, etc. It will make his POW log come alive!

You should get a food saver and seal these things up behind plastic. It will create an airless environment and they won't deteriorate or yellow any further.

These are a treasure that you should keep and pass along to your kids.

I completely agree with you, but the book is not "mine". My grandfather keeps it in a safe along with the photographs from Dachau. I believe this will be passed on to me when the day comes, hopefully a long time from now...

The actual book is pretty good condition considering its age and journey.

That was an English Handley Page Hampden, a doggy airplane with serious armament and defensive weaknesses. It was cramped and exhausting to fly.
Like most if not all RAF bombers, they had to defend against 12.7mm
heavy MGs and 20MM cannons of the Luftwaffe with .303 Browning MGs.
Poor devils were at a real disadvantage thruout the war.
