What does Freedom mean? Mon Nov 19 19:01:43 2001 Since, 9-11-01, how much Freedom have I lost as an individual? I can still get up in the mornings and look out my back window to my little piece of Texas. I can still make coffee and cook my eggs and bacon for breakfast. I can still go to the local store and purchase all types of veggies, cerals, meats and produce of every imaginable kind. I can still buy gasoline for dang near a buck a gallon. I can still rent videos and DVDs from my favorite liberals out in Commywood. I can still buy books and tapes at my local bookstore. I can still go to the bank and make deposits and withdrawals. I can still read the newspapers and watch TV. I can still drive down my city streets. I can still drive across state lines. I can still fly to any city that the airlines serve. I can still sleep in my own bed at nights. I can still do my job for the State of Texas. I can still get my mail and packages sent and received. My telephone lines still work, as does my internet connection. My children still attend the same public schools and ride the same yellow school bus. Why then do I feel that my freedom is less, that my world has shrunk and my freedom and liberty has been forever altered and in fact lost? Why do I worry about my world? Why do I worry about my children's future? What world will they live in? If freedom means that the government will protect me, then I do NOT want freedom. If freedom means living under false security, then my family does not need it. If freedom means giving up my rights as a man, then I would rather not be free. Because freedom can not come from a government. It can not come from a law. Freedom can not come from a book, a paper or a Constitution. Freedom must come from the People themselves. They must desire freedom above all else. Because without freedom all else falls short of liberty and happiness. The People must weep at the smallest loss of freedom. Their hearts must shatter at the very thought of loosing one spec of freedom, in order for freedom to prevail. When the People are willing to give up their freedom for a false sense of security, then they have indeed lost sight of what freedom means. Freedom means living and dying without the government controlling you or your actions. Freedom means not having to worry about the government trying to protect you from yourself. Freedom means not having to worry about the government trying to protect you, by enslaving you in a bureaucratic prison of taxes and regulations. Freedom means never having to walk through an airport with armed guards. Freedom means never having to say you fear your own government. May God protect us from our leaders. May He show us the way to His love and grace. God Bless the American People, may they wake up to the loss of Freedom before it is too late. Forever in Liberty and Justice, Judge Blackhawk
