"Delusions of Grandeur".....

It never ceases to amaze me! Watching a "Wanted to Buy" on another site, (which incidently, doesn't appear to be monitored), I see these ads for folks wanting to purchase an extremely rare gun that "must be cheap, in excellent or better condition because they want it for their 12 year old son to shoot!"If folks believed this, well, ..... I have some Tropical Paradise property, located on the edge of the Bonneville Salt Flats..... for sale, "CHEAP AND IN MINT CONDITION." In fact, it may have never been rained on.....!Good Thing we're all stupid and unable to crawl to the dinner table by ourselves...Wouldn't it be fun to see an ad asking for something and saying they would pay a fair price? Why always "cheap?" Must be their nature.......huh?

Dad always said, good things don't come cheap or easy. He was giving me advice about women but it applies here too

One of the largest growing demographic segments online is middle-aged and older women, often widows.Maybe some of these WTB posters are hoping some of these widows will happen-by, see their ad and think, "Gosh, Jim's [her deceased husband] old Colt isn't doing him any good now, maybe I can sell it to this nice man so he can teach his 12-year-old son to shoot..."

When looking to buy something, sellers jack the price because someone wants the particular item they have for sale.As a buyer, it is the most common way to protect ourselves from unfair business practice of unscrouplous dealers. In essence, we are placing the seller on notice that we do not want to be cheated.I use similar verbage in most of my inquires, but never "Cheap". Always reasonable.IMHO

I was just looking at a auction site. One that has very few listings and I'm sure won't last long. At least if they have to depend on their sellers to make then any money.Found a Win Mdl 67 22 single shot and a Iver Johnson 38 top break each listed for $5000 (Reserve not met) That is "Delusions of Grandeur". Or at least delusional

Somehow, there is a possibility that Iver might be a tad overpriced, but then again, it would be under-priced at $5.00......Can't win for losing sometimes......!!!But I wouldn't e-mail a person wanting a valuable item for "cheap" if I was giving it away......!!!

I just bought some Ocean Front property (site unseen) in Kansas from a magazine ad. You don't think I've got a problem, do you?

Well, it could take a little while. Now if you want a deal, I have some land for sale in Western Nevada, and as soon as California falls off it will be beach front. Better get it now while it is cheap!

Well, I can't give you a firearms story, but there's an auction listed now on this site for a "RARE!!" box of BP .38 S&W shells for only $300 if one 'buys it now.' Then there's the guy who's been listing "**RARE**!!" .45 ACP shells from the WW1 era for only $10 a round. He's been doing that for over two years. I wrote him once suggesting that his stock must be pretty well depleted if he kept listing these great rarities and offering to sell him another thousand for fifty cents each. Still waiting to hear back from him . . . . What a schmuck.
