San Francisco-AP -- America Online is accused of charging thousands of its customers for merchandise they didn't buy -- including books, stereos and bedsheets.A federal lawsuit made available today claims the A-O-L Time Warner subsidiary "unlawfully " collected money for the merchandise from credit cards, debit cards and checking accounts. The suit filed in San Francisco Friday accuses the nation's largest online service of shipping products advertised on its service even when subscribers clicked the "no thanks" button on their computer screens.A lawyer in the case says his firm has received dozens of consumer complaints about the company. The suit seeks nationwide class-action status. A-O-L has 33 (m) million subscribers.A spokesman for the company says the allegations are without merit.

Obviously it is a legitimate case, or they wouldn't be suing their fellow socialists.

I have to go to work today at AOL. I'm doing construction there for a few weeks. I will have my work gun with me, Ruger SP101 357 mag.I like the feeling of getting over on them.

Be careful Ruger. Until more people open their eyes, these are paranoid times for gun owners...

Three or four years ago, the "Mean Ole Red Head" asked me why we were being billed $9.95 every month on our Credit Card. I didn't know. We checked the last 9 Statements and found the same charge. The Red Head had simply paid the Credit Card bill making a note to ask me what I was buying from AOL, but always forgot to ask me. It seems we had installed the software which came in the mail one evening and attempted to get an account. It was a frustrating experience and when we got through putting in our credit card number, after a couple of minutes we got a message on our screen: "Credit Card Denied....Use Another?" I was very frustrated and at that point just Un-installed the software. I never gave it another thought. Our fault for not looking, but they billed us monthly for 9 months before the Red Head caught it. Repeated calls to AOL got me told that my account "had been open" and they would not refund my money. Went to the Credit Union who issued my Credit Card demanding they not allow any more charges. Was told by the Credit Union, I would have to close my account and start over because they had a contract with their merchants to honor any charge submitted by them. All this pissed me off. I simply went and sued the Credit Union and AOL. After they were served, curiously they were able to refund all my money, pay the Attorney and Court Costs, and.....would you believe it? It somehow wasn't necessary for me to close my account and start over with a new number. Closed all Accounts with the Credit Union anyway. Also found out I was one of many who had paid charges assessed against a credit card which had been "denied." Crooked? I thought so then.....I think so now! Nothing they do surprises me.....They are underhanded at the very least, crooked more than likely. Think about this. If they overcharged each customer just $1, (One Dollar) each month, they would take in $33,000,000.00 extra profit! They have 33 Million customers! Hard to believe there's that many idiots believing in AOL.....!!! If it "Flames you.....if the shoe fits...wear it! Besides, what they offer, you can get better, cheaper and fast, locally. Might even be "Honest."

The ownership of AOL has been one of the heavy contributers to the various gunphobe groups since it's inception. Subject was discussed just a few days ago in regard to three employees terminated for having firearms in their vehicles in what was allegedly a shared (with other companies) parking lot. It always surprises me when staunch supporters of the Second Amendment use this 'service' (the quality of which is yet another good thread topic) when it is unreliable, more expensive than many others and - especially - openly hostile to our rights. Do you want *your* money going to Sarah Brady? Well, DO you? (w/ apologies to Clint)
