SPIELBERG'S MOVIE MAGIC
Steven Spielberg - Photo by: Sylvain Gaboury/DMI ONE of America's best-loved movies is being tampered with for the sake of political correctness, according to Hollywood sources. They say Steven Spielberg is digitally removing the guns carried by FBI agents in his classic "ET - the Extraterrestrial." The brilliant director plans to re-release "ET" in late March, I'm told, but the guns that appear in the final scene as agents surround the spaceship will be replaced with walkie-talkies. Spielberg is supposedly making these changes at a cost of around $100,000 to please the film's co-star Drew Barrymore, who is his godchild. Drew, who's appeared in some shoot-'em-ups herself, is now fanatically opposed to all forms of weapons. Drew needs the kindness of friends right now. She's upset at the breakup of her brief marriage to the unfunny comedian Tom Green and blames her own fierce ambitions for what happened. Green's career hit the wall with the release of "Freddie Got Fingered," last year's biggest bomb. Not to worry, said Drew, she'd just have a bigger part written for him in her next "Charlie's Angels." He was, supposedly, insulted by the offer and stormed out on her. http://www.pagesix.com/nealtravis/nealtravis.htm
