The Pentagon said the propaganda broadcasts began last weekend and originate from a flying radio station, a specially outfitted EC-130, known as "Commando Solo." The broadcasts tout the deadly firepower of the U.S. military and tell the Taliban, "You have only one choice ... Surrender now." "Our forces are armed with state of the art military equipment. What are you using, obsolete and ineffective weaponry? Our helicopters will rain fire down upon your camps before you detect them on your radar. Our bombs are so accurate we can drop them right through your windows. Our infantry is trained for any climate and terrain on earth. United States soldiers fire with superior marksmanship and are armed with superior weapons," one radio script reads. Here's a complete text of one broadcast: "Attention Taliban! You are condemned. Did you know that? The instant the terrorists you support took over our planes, you sentenced yourselves to death. The Armed Forces of the United States are here to seek justice for our dead. Highly trained soldiers are coming to shut down once and for all Osama bin Laden's ring of terrorism, and the Taliban that supports them and their actions. "Our forces are armed with state of the art military equipment. What are you using, obsolete and ineffective weaponry? Our helicopters will rain fire down upon your camps before you detect them on your radar. Our bombs are so accurate we can drop them right through your windows. Our infantry is trained for any climate and terrain on earth. United States soldiers fire with superior marksmanship and are armed with superior weapons. "You have only one choice ... Surrender now and we will give you a second chance. We will let you live. If you surrender no harm will come to you. When you decide to surrender, approach United States forces with your hands in the air. Sling your weapon across your back muzzle towards the ground. Remove your magazine and expel any rounds. Doing this is your only chance of survival."

    I keep hearing this trash about how the enemy doesn't value his own life!I don't remember seeing Osama or any of the ruling Talibaners strapping themselves to a missile or wrapping C-4 around their waists and strolling around looking for a good place to blow themselves up!The mindless Sheeple that were used on 9/11 were among the few that were gullible enough to buy into that whole "To die for Allah is to live forever" line of crap!If it's such an honor to die, why then are they running for their wretched lives?

    This am while watching the international news channel, I saw to my amazement, a north alliance fighter shoot a hand held anti tank grenade launcher at a vehicle of some sort (about 300-400 meters) away.The grenade landed about 100 meters out front of the soldier and then skipped like a stone thrown into a pond for about another 200 meters, completely missing the vehicle he had aimed at.No womder they have been fighting against the Taliban without success, it was totally pathetic to watch.He looked like a woman when he took off running after firing the grenade, having to gather up his dress from tripping on it.Good grief...[This message has been edited by turbo (edited 10-18-2001).]

    Stanman has a point.The taliban are switching sides like a jack knifing tractor trailor in progress. They don't want to die or they would not be hiding behind s$$t or running like a scared virgin.if we want to help the opposition then we should send over a load of Levis. Those school marm dresses don't do much for running.

    I don't make fun of anyone that has the balls to fight. Anyone in any army that goes in harm's way & tries to fight deserves tobe respected. We like to make fun of the Iraqis but the fact is many of them stood their ground & died fighting. Those who did deserve the respect due a brave opponent.

    stanman: I believe the people fleeing to Pakistan or outlying villages are largely civilians. The Taliban soldiers are fighting. Makes it easier to identify targets . . . .
