Has the State of New York been written off by the National Gun Organizations?

Proposal Approved for Revision of New York City Charter Approved: Create gun-free zones within 1,000 feet of schools, ban the sale of guns to those younger than 21, and require Board of Education employees to notify police of suspected crimes that take place in schools, including violent crimes and sex offenses. NY Sportsmen Alert Comment: Notice how New York City Democrats took a gun issue and linked it with school violent crimes and sex offenses. Of course the charter revision was going to pass, every mother and grandmother was going to vote yes. What upsets me is the lack of comment from National Gun Organizations on the charter revision and what could be done to combat it. I receive alerts from various organizations and not one mentioned the proposed charter revision. Has the State of New York been written off by the National Gun Organizations?

You hit the nail on the head! Hillary didn't get elected by the state of NY. She got elected by the five boroughs (sp?). I was living up near the Canadian border in NY during that election. Although I was not (and still am not) a legal resident of the state of NY, it was a terrible disappointment due to the fact that the area I lived in was and still is HEAVILY populated by sportsmen. Hell, the judge that approved my CCW in NY preferred to issue CCW's to people who are members of the NRA and local sportsmen's clubs due to the fact that they promote safety and responsibility. I raised this issue with a former "conservative" republican friend of mine in NYC. I expressed my disgust that the politics of NYC dictate the politics of the rest of the state. She claimed that, were it not for NYC, the rest of the state would shut down in a weeks time due to the tax revenue generated in NYC. I shook my head in disgust. NYC is the reason why taxes are so high in the rest of the state. They can't generate enough tax revenue to support all of their socialist social programs. And to think that she has an economics degree from an Ivy League university![This message has been edited by idsman75 (edited 11-10-2001).]

idsman - 'to top it off'? More accurately, 'because,' my friend. They don't teach the real world there, but the world according to Hillary and Marx. I've visited several of the Ivies in the last two years as my kids looked at colleges. Finally told them they could go there if they paid their own way. No way those bastids at Hahvid, etc., were going to get any of my money.
