I'll be in Hot Springs the 24th and 25th. My wife will be with me. The only evening I'll have free will be the 24th. If you and your wife want to do dinner, let me know.

If you want to stay on the lake, there is a Clarion that is reportedly pretty decent where you can rent jet skis and such.
Another place on the lake that has been highly reccomended by friends is:
Long Island Lake Resort
320 Long Island Drive
Hot Springs, AR 71913
Toll-Free: (800) 467-1598
There is a place in the old part of Hot Springs that gives me the willies. There is this big, gothic building that sits on the hill just above the community hot spring, next to the offices of the park service. It is supposed to be a rehab facility, but looking at it, it screams "mental health facility" and you can almost smell the electro-shock being administered . . . It is a strange town. With a few bucks and a single celebrity yoga or fitness guru, the entire place would be changed, I think.

Wanted you to know we were there, but ran into problems. I was able to get away from the job in Hot Springs at 5:45, which I figured would run us a bit late. Did my best to get there, to the point that my wife was complining about my driving. You may have noticed the road construction along the interstate access roads, both side of the highway. That slowed us up some more. Actually slowed us down quite a bit. Thinking Benton must not be much more than a bump in the road (with three torn up exit ramps) I started to look for Colton's, "downtown" Benton was interesting to say the least. Driving down a road until it becomes a oneway going the wrong direction seemed to happen several times. Never ask directions from a convenience store clerk wearing a turbin, or one who should be.
I honestly don't know what time I gave up, but it must have been about 15 minutes after my wife started complaining about having a hunger induced headache and driving up hills into a sunset with a bug stained windshield. Finally ended up at Brown's Country Restaurant on the north side of the highway. My wife liked the gift shop there, anyway.
So, I tried. Sorry it didn't work out. Hope you and your lady had a nice dinner. My wife was very happy with the dinner she ended up getting. Maybe some time in the future I'll have an assignment in Little Rock proper and will have a bit more time to find my way around.

Actually, I'm what the people I do work for call an independent consultant, a title they give so they won't have to pay benefits. The SAE (society for automotive engineers, the guys on the oil cans) started a system called NADCAP (National Aerospace and Defense Contractors Accreditation Program). Several large defense/aerospace contractors, such as GE, Boeing, Rolls-Royce, Sikorski Helecopter, Raytheon, Cessna Aircraft, etc, have contracted with NADCAP to send out quality assurance process auditors to audit the manufacturing and inspection process of their suppliers. My area of specialization is NDT Nondestructive Testing). So basically I travel around the country performing process audits on those small companies that supply the larger companies with parts and services. What that does is save the large companies the expense of sending out their own auditors, and reduces the number of audits on the suppliers. That's it in a nutshell.
