ysacres - the only problem with the whole thing was it was wayyyyyyyyyy too hot and humid. Had quite a few in attendance including some of the children. Spent a fun filled (though hot) afternoon in the rock quarry shooting on Saturday and then a grand bbq Saturday night.Lots of guns were available for shooting and shooter22 and his 2 brothers made grand hosts.I'll try and e-mail you some pictures (though I didn't take the best I admit) so you can get an idea.Glad to see you back by the way!

I keep tellin myself"You need to write aboutthe event".It was a great time.Kevin and his brothers did a very good job, down to the last detail.I like to joke shooter 22 that DAMN it was hot,but you couldn't help but have a good time. Not evertone could attend because of location and other details,so a more central local maybe in order.Look foward to meeting some of you and hope you feel the same.

SXSMAN - I can't compete with words like some here - probably why I haven't written much about the event. But your arrival was definitely the best I've ever heard about!!!

Ysacres; Most of the people who showed up at the Mo. BBQ were either voluntarily or involuntarily "poof-banned" from this site. There was one thread on it here, but little interest expressed in it,and most of the information is on another place, across town. This all happened while you were burning the midnight oil.Tlynn should be able to bring you up to speed.Be sure and ask about that danged Sxsman and his "official" entrance to the campground...some people lost a year of life, over that...

I planned on going as it's only about an hour and half from where I live but was in the state of Nevada at the time, had a chance to stay longer than planned and it was cooler in the desert than it was here in S/W Missouri. Wish I'd been there though, sounds like everyone had a good time. SXSMAN, write it up if you still want to, would like to hear all the good parts. I hope to someday get up and meet Kevin and his brother, gona have to do that....

TLynn, I never thought I'd ask a woman to express herself ... but come'on. There is NOBODY here that will critique your story on the subject in question. Right folks??? See!Let the story telling begin.

Shooter22 would be able to tell all on Sxsman..I got there just in time to hear the story of how we almost lost Sxsman to homicide..the only reason it didn't happen is because Shooter22 heart wouldn't let him reach a gun... Me,the high points were meeting Tlynn,The rest of the gang ( if I start naming at this hour of the night,I will leave somebody out..and I don't want to do that )Shooter's and bros. cooking... Plus,at the range,I had the pleasure of watching a very nervous young man, over the course of an hour or so,progress from barely able to hit a target,to settling down and shooting a very good group.Crowds sometimes will make a fellow nervous. Then there is the fellow who allowed me to shoot his 45-70 Marlin Guide Gun...I liked it so much,I had ti have one....

The Missouri bbq from my eyes.I arrived early Friday afternoon at the Kansas City Airport with a confused look on my face since I hadn't a clue what shooter22's younger brother gunner looked like. I see this wonderful gentleman with a small handmade sign with my name (my real name and TLynn) on it and realized I was not lost in KC (you have no idea how that type of thing worries me).We waited forever for my luggage and gunner told me the predictions for the day were hot, hot, hot and extremely humid (he was not incorrect). My luggage arrived and we left in his wonderfully airconditioned SUV (okay so that spoiled me I admit) and made the long drive to Stockton Lakes. We stopped and I grabbed some food at a convenience store along with some water and coffee (coffee is a necessity of life for me - just ask timberbeast about how much I went through in one day in Virginia). We arrived sometime between 4pm and 5pm (I'm not good with time either by the way) and I got to meet shooter22 and his older brother Dodger? I believe. shooter22's family are all great people.BobinStLouis was there with his son and a nicer man would be hard to meet. His son was well behaved as well. Ruffit and his wife Tagalong showed up (ruffit for those who don't know is known here as sjswart I believe). He had told me not to tell anyone that he might show up just in case he couldn't arrange it. He's a grand person as is his wife. While visiting and visibly wilting in the heat and humidity (we don't get that very often in Idaho-humidity that is) along comes a pickup and out steps a tall silver haired man. Instantly I knew this must be Highball from descriptions shooter22 had given me some time ago. A man who definitely knows what he is doing - and nice too boot. Of course the resident parking person had to come along and tell Highball he couldn't park where he was as it was rented out to someone for the night (god he was an idiot). Highball moved his truck to where BobinStLouis spot was and we continued on with all the visiting and the like. Shortly afterwards a car pulled up where Highball had been parked and out steps of all people 44rugerfan and his lovely family. We all got a good laugh about Highball having to move for nothing. We decided to go into town and eat dinner as not all the unpacking had been done. We had a grand time visiting (there were a lot of people there that I still can't remember who they all were). From there Highball was kind enough to find me a room in town to stay at that had airconditioning (I told you I was wilting from the humidity). We agreed to share a room with separate beds (it was cheaper that way) and he being the gentleman he is would not let me pay. We all went back to the campgrounds to spend some more time visiting before it got too dark and then Highball took me back to the hotel. Next morning Highball bought me breakfast and we went to find the shooting area in the Rock Quarry near the campgrounds. We found it, surveyed it - but no one was there yet. As we left to go find the group, we passed them coming to the shoot so turned around and followed them back. These guys brought everything!!! Including a few more people to the shoot. Fredneck and his wife Mesen (they spend time on another board) arrived and they are grand people as well to say the least. Also arriving with the group was SXSMAN - he had shown up early Saturday morning and scared everyone in the campgrounds to death (almost gave shooter22 a heart attack). It seems he decided to play a campground cop and did the official thing about guns in camp, lots of shooting in the middle of the night, couldn't have that type of stuff going on (he even had a clipboard, and all along with a nice shirt and everything). He had a sling on one arm and asked for help getting his long sleeved shirt off - underneath the shirt, his t-shirt said it all!!! Miscreants Barbeque along with a lot of other funny things. I wish I had been there to see it - because I'm noisy enough that I would of asked a lot of stupid questions. As it is I gather it was totally hysterical. The shoot was great by the way. twins and his wife showed up on their way to their vacation and a wedding I believe and did some shooting as well. Highball was kind enough to take BobinStLouis's son and start working with him on shooting handguns - he's a good teacher and he even helped me. 44rugerfan proved that any weapon handed to him he was deadly with (and I'm not joking - he's that good). I got to shoot a 45/70 of Frednecks - Highball fell in love with it and I enjoyed it myself. BobinStLouis let me shoot his AK-47 (so of course I'm glad I bought myself one). There were guns everywhere - Bob brought quite a few and let us shoot any we wanted as did all of shooter's family and so forth. We spent 5 hours in the heat and enjoyed ourselves very much then packed up to have a grand barbeque back at camp with shooter doing the cooking (thank you again SXSMAN for providing the meat). Lots of food, lots of fun and the group picture was hysterical - even 44rugerfan's new baby had a little derringer to hold. SXSMAN did a raffle of various things including some of Bob's best - it was very good!!! Twins could not stay for the bbq itself unfortunately and Tagalong and ruffit had to leave to go home that night along with Mesen and Fredneck but they were there for the bbq itself.Sunday morning the rest of us said our goodbyes and gunner and shooter22 took me to the airport after first stopping at shooter's house to unload some equipment. I made my tearful goodbyes and went into the airport sad that I would be leaving that day (little did I know I'd miss my flight but that's another story). So ends the saga of the first bbq - wish I could of told it better but I'm not one for words.

Hey that was wonderful. No mention of the famed Tater salad so I guess it will be guarded as a secret. Tlynn, we have some smart folks as well as some dumb folks here at GB and sometimes they show it. But never let anyone (me included) make you feel your posts are somehow not "good" enough for bandwidth.

5db - why not? I can't tell you because I literally cannot eat potato salad, or pickles, or mushrooms, mayonaise, mustard and so forth.Or I'd tell you how it tasted. I can say that not a single person who had some complained about it.
