Couple of years ago Bass Pro offered a gift card, $25 for joining the NRA or adding a year. I added a year then, used the gift card on an ammo box and shotgun shells.
This year Cabela's did the same deal. So I added a year again, put the gift card towards a new Ruger American Rimfire rifle in .22WMR.

No use waiting 'til the last minute.
Go ahead and send your money now.

I too have noticed some bashing, but every site has its trolls.
Welcome aboard!

I always get a kick out of those who blast the NRA for not being perfect.
To paraphrase Churchill: The NRA is the worst gun rights organization possible, except for all the others.
You do know that as a member now you are almost obligated to get a gun.[:)]
Damn the things you see when you don't have a gun!!! Don

Trolls just for pointing out the NRA's past support of gun control laws? That doesn't sound troll-ish to me, just an attempt to shed some light on the organizations past. Can't fix it if you don't know whats broke, and there is no better way to keep their feet to the fire and make sure they are truly fighting our fight than to remind them of their previous actions....

...In the end, joined the NRA again and the GOA...I have problems with both, but we need all the help we can get since most common gun owners really dont do squat except * about all the laws and the NRA, and then do NOTHING, which doesnt help us.
Fact: NRA weilds MORE power in DC than any other gun lobby, they scare the anti-gunners, anti-gunner lawmakers, but comprimise at times that burns everyones butt, yet no one has the power they do.
The GOA is still the new kid on the block but has started to get the attention of those in DC, so their power is starting to grow and become respected, yet they comprimise as well...NO gun lobby as I can tell is as pure as the driven snow.
What we NEED is the most pious of the gun advocates, but unfortuantely those seem to be the same people who only * about the laws, run down the NRA & GOA,...then do absolutely nothing to help the cause, only snivel at how bad the NRA is...maybe someday those rowdy keyboard rangers will unite and form a group that will take some type of genuine action and run the big dog NRA off the hill...[;)]
Another Life Member here. With a LM you can opt out of all the additional mailings.
That is what I did. I get the voting stuff and some ILA flyers wanting $$ but other than the American Rifleman I don't hear from them too much.
I'll bet you didn't learn the handshake or the dance either.
...Good on you...after all the turmoil about the NRA a couple years back...I allowed my membership to expire, then waited a few months trying to make my mind up rather to join again.

Colt,
Is it OK if I pull up a chair and sit next to you while we wait for the keyboard rangers to launch their assault on whatever it is when they decide to actually do something?
I could bring a couple cold ones so we are comfortable waiting. If history is any indication, the wait will be a long one.

Ummm, that renewal money really goes to a great cause, hey?
WTG Don,good for you. [^][^][^]
Something to consider.
The NRA spends a lot of effort lobbying to implement legislation that allows access to firearms.
The SAF (and to a large degree the GOA) spends most of its effort working to eliminate restrictive legislation.
Promoting legislated access expands Government Control. Eliminating legislation reduces Government Control.
Alas, neither the GOA or the SAF send hats.
