Edit: When I posted this I thought it was going to close at a disappointing $2.25 but it got bid up at last moment.

If I was wanting an original box bad enough to bid on it, then I would want to see a bit of proof it was indeed that, and not a decal someone stuck on the top of it....
its a risk you take
Actually, I figured it was worth $25-$30 so the final price was OK. If the original interior is intact these will fetch $75-$100.
BR- The decal is not original as I stated in the listing. The box is an original S&W presentation case but someone added the decal.
Maybe I'll list another since I still have a few more.

Why do you suspect that I am lying about the item?

I wish I hadn't thrown so many of the away.
By the way, those boxes ( or similiar) are plentiful around the flea markets here...
Note the style of hardware (not available from any other source).
Note the dove-tailed corners.
This is a genuine S&W presentation case from the 1960s-1970s.
The first style of interior used a styrofoam bottom covered with a sprayed on texture coating (called flocking by collectors) and the guns tended to face left.
The later style (starting in the late 1970s) used a plastic bottom insert covered with a sprayed on texture coating. The guns can face either way with this style and I don't know if the direction has meaning. The Model 15 pictured in the case is not original to the box. I know of no K frame models that came in the cases. The Model 29, and Model 57 came in them and in 1975 or 76 the Model 27 also came in the wooden boxes (all N frames).
I have also seen wooden boxes that bear a superficial resemblance to the S&W cases for sale on ebay and other venues. But after handling the real item a few times it becomes easy to spot the differences. The hardware is unique on the S&W cases (and impossible to find if you need to replace a damaged latch or hinge) and if you look at the inside bottom wood you can see part numbers stenciled there. These were sold as parts as well as with new guns.
I stated the item was a genuine S&W case, and that's what it is. I didn't realize that anyone would question its authenticity or doubt my word.
BTW- If you are seeing genuine S&W boxes at flea markets bear in mind that one in good condition will bring $100 or more. Just the wood box missing the inserts can sell for $20-$40 depending on condition of the wood.

You are one of thousands of other sellers...why shouldnt a person ask for proof?..
in one of those.
And you weren't even bidding so I'm not sure why you were so concerned.

You were sooo disappointed it wasnt over 2.25 and no proof it was the real thing might have been the reason...

I ain't into those type boxes, but they sure are nice. I made a box one time with finger joint construction like that. Those are very hard to make. I would imagine it would get easier after time. Those are nice boxes for showing off your smith, thats for sure.
If you do it by hand and by guess it's way beyond hard. The easy way is to get a jig and do them with a router, but you need to make a lot of boxes to justify the price of the jig. Or you could make a homemade jig and do them on a table saw.
