Fruit and Veggie Massacre: My Shooting Sessions

My personal philosophy: Why bother with silly things like targets when you can just do 20-yard pumpkin shots with your 870? Slugs of course.I also find 30-40 yard watermelon shots with my 7.62x39R veeeery satisfying. :-)Remember: If it's a quarter in front, it's a dinner plate in back. Especially if the pumpkin's a bit rotten.Who else enjoys mashing the melons or pasting the pumpkins? Fess up!

Well, lets put it this way, I only use the veggies cause no critter has ever been dumb enough to scamper on to the range while I'm workin' the seven-six-two.

I love biodegradable targets myself. A few years ago, a few friends and I got some old, unsold fruit from the local store and took it out into the desert to shoot. I got to razz my buddy because his 92FS with FMJs wouldn't splat 'em like my .357 with HP's! Hah! ('course as I recall, he then broke out the 870...) And no cleanup afterwards, 'cause God's little critters took care of it for us.

I used to shoot apples off the trees with my .22 until ma beat me half to death for ruining a lot of the winter canning apples.I found out later that shooting devils snuff boxes was more fun anyway.
