We were joking about Get Smart the other day.This guy built a bomb into his shoe,sounds like we got lucky this time,but I feel more attacks are on the way.Here is a link http://www.msnbc.com/news/676895.asp This could have been a fatal blow to some airlines,the trickle down effect could be huge.

    I was watching CNN when this went down. Said the guy packed his shoe with C-4 and tried to explode it by lighting a match.My Dad used to tell me that the way to heat C-rations was to tear off a little chunk of C-4 and light it with a match. Sounds like this fruitcake was trying for a serious case of the hot foot.

    This had to have been a solo fruitcake. The trained terrorists w/ resources would have used an electronic detonator. Looks like we'll have explosives sniffers as well as metal detectors. On one hand I would like to see the black ops unleashed, on the other, I remember what it was like when they were (JFK and other assasinations). I remember a line from an otherwise undistinguished episode of Star Trek DS9 in which the O'Brien character tells a former enemy that he doesn't hate him for the atrocities that destroyed his family, but for what he had to become to fight against such atrocities. I see much of the same thing happening today, and I find it all too easy to hate these Islamic extremists, blindly, reflexively, as they have decided to hate us. Our children should live in a world where FDR's four freedoms are practiced, not where we have to pass through snooper machines to enter a public place. It seems as though Orwell may only have titled his book thirty years too early.
