Jerusalem-AP -- Amid the violence in the West Bank comes a story of people of different religions working together to save a young life. It's the story of a Palestinian baby found abandoned in a roadside heap of trash. She was rescued by Palestinian doctors, then nurtured by a group of nuns in Bethlehem. When she needed surgery, an Israeli doctor repaired her heart for free. The nuns raised eleven-thousand dollars to cover her hospital care.Today, the ten-month-old girl named Salaam -- which means "peace" in Arabic -- was released from a Jerusalem hospital. Her heart surgeon says the tale "shows that there are good people on both sides of the fence" -- even if they're not the ones who rule.
