BRUSSELS (Reuters) - The European Commission said on Friday it had drawn up a list of products that may potentially be targeted in any retaliation in the row over U.S. steel tariffs that went into effect this week."The Commission has today provided member states with what it considers would be an appropriate list to be submitted to the WTO (World Trade Organization) in order to protect our rights in the future to be able to impose counter measures on the United States over steel," spokesman Anthony * told reporters. He stressed, however, that such retaliation would only come into force if attempts at getting compensation failed.* declined to comment on the contents of the list but EU sources say textiles, steel and citrus fruits would be included.Asked about the motivation behind the move, * said the point of counter measures was to encourage the other party to bring itself into line with WTO rules.
