Tiger attacks kindergartner at Scotts Valley school

San Francisco-AP -- A six-year-old boy is in the hospital tonight after a tiger attacked him at a school assembly.

Authorities say the attack happened as the leashed tiger was being led out of the school's auditorium by its trainer.

They say the animal lurched over a row of seats and grabbed the boy by the head in its jaws.

A spokesman for the school -- about 60 miles south of San Francisco -- says the principal was sitting one row behind the boy and wrestled him away from the declawed animal.

The boy is hospitalized in guarded condition.

The tiger is in the custody of the company that brought it to the school.

A school official says the one-year-old animal was brought there as a reward for students who'd sold ten or more magazine subscriptions.

Sounds like that boy's parents are about to get a 6 digit income... Lets see, sue the school district, cause they were responsible for ur kid while he's at school, and then sue the animal trainer, and the company he works for....

I don't think they have to worry about paying for college now...

If I'm wrong please correct me, I won't be offended.

Bet the family would prefer more traditional methods, lee!

Good thing for the tiger no one is allowed to have firearms in school.

I think the kid needs to be checked for terminal illness , tame animals tend to "end" the missery of persons with genetical or fatal malady ,many dogs tend to attack people with cancer 10 to 1 over normal people , a nature way of natural selection.....
Felines do attack by smell signature alone, needs to be investigated.

I don't think the kid wanted to play like this!
    Miss/Mrs Jackson is a real PETA *!

Scotts Valley, California-AP -- A six-year-old boy, grabbed by a tiger at a California school assembly, is back home, doing fine.

A doctor calls the child a "very lucky young man." The boy was stitched up for a cut along his hairline, but was otherwise unhurt.

Police say a trainer was leading the tiger from an auditorium at Baymonte Christian School on Friday when it jumped over seats and grabbed the boy's head in its jaws.

The tiger had been brought in by the "Zoo to You Wildlife Education" company as a reward for students who'd sold magazine subscriptions. The school says about 150 kids were there.

Anita Jackson, head of animal care and training for Zoo to You, says the tiger was actually being playful and wanted to join in the kids' fun.
